Exhaust also never had any carbon build up all the way through the backbox.

take it form the picture No3 piston is melted
http://www.cmpracing.co.uk/uploads/cupra_melt4.JPG
Looks to me like the manifold's not on right
on a serious note..... is that scoring on the bore?
Yup, bored also melted and trashed from heat and the rings appear to have melted although it could have snagged on a hot spot in the bore. You can feel a 1~2mm dip at the top where the bores been melting.
Manifold picture aint really turned out but its pretty blue.
How many miles you done IHI? Who did the work fitting etc?
About 500 miles, Jabba fitted it all and I got the car back in mid-March.

you phoned jabba
dodgy injector
if that were teh case I'd wager some kind of warrantee rebuild
yup running toooooooo lean
Not yet I haven't. Goble they all seemed to read fine is there any other way to check, cylinder 3 is the hottest cylinder on the Cupra.
Is there any chance just running too lean would have caused this?
One thing I supplied was the injectors as I had them from when I was going AM04 and they were brand new in a box. Wouldn't mind finding out how to have one tested properly.

duration and quantity i'm talking abouts here get them ANSU tested then youve got a good case to put forward but make sure you number them up
Cylinder 3's usually the one that goes tits up. It's usually that rod that goes, which says something about the combustion/knock in that cylinder. I'm not sure what though

ive had 3 motors go on cyl 2
+one complete bottom end destroy itself
I've had cylinder 2 melt valves, but threw a rod on number 3. Intake mani on mine is the other way around though.

and look on a jabba mani which cylinder blows straight out into the exit?
#3
blue is running hot..
lean running without doubt..
spark plug on same cylinder still intact?
Fuel pump supplied? Uprated one?
They supplied and fitted an S3 pump according to the invoice, and the plug is smashed / melted. What I'm trying to find out is if the mapping is lean as I had said from day one that there was never any carbon build up in the exhaust like there used to be even though it now had a decat.
Also the blueing on the manifold makes me think its running lean, same for the cleaness of the exhaust side on the pistons. The car was running in 5th at WOT when it happened.
Whats always bemused me is when I phoned about the mapping progress they said it had a 7500 limiter, yet I asked for 7800. When I picked the car up it had a 7800rpm limit but never had been mapped again.
Id be right on the phone to Jabba tomorrow if I was you. Might have to get the injectors tested as you supplied them to prove them not at fault but as people are saying if its been running lean then it sounds like either the pump they fitted hasnt been doing what its supposed to or its not been mapped properly. Either way whatever has happened its totally screwed your engine with only 500 miles use!

Lean
its happened before.
5th on WOT confirms... sustained load, its run lean, and the rest is history.
time for a phone call

Yepo defo been lean, i have seen this a few times, normally cylinder 3 is blowing straight out into turbo and gets hotter.
My dad says those valves are in the garage at his house, so there is a set of rods, pistons and valves here for ya matey if there any help to you.
