Hi all

Have been informed by Wim Pruys (Dutch dealer) that there's now a Seat factory-fitted "power upgrade" available for the Ibiza TDI 130.

Not sure if it's available in the UK yet.

It's called a 25bhp upgrade, so add on 25bhp to the typical output of a 130 (often over 140 from what's been said on here), and you should be somewhere in the 160's. It's not as high as others like Revo, but on the plus side, your Seat warranty is not invalidated.

Just wondering if it's done by a well-known chip tuner, and whether there's any torque/power plots around.

Also, if it's fitted at the factory, would you have to declare it as a modification to your insurers ???

Cheers

I doubt SEAT UK would give warranty on that... I'd check before you jump.. And yes declare it as youre insurance wont be worth the paper its written on.

Maybe not so remote as you think. When I was down at Daventry (Revo) A guy was having his Golf TDi 150 chipped and Richard was saying he has seen a few factory chipped Golf's so maybe SEAT are taking a leaf out of VW's book and offering similar options.

Still, I would ask for it in writing so there are no problems 18 months down the line should you make a claim.

When i renewed my insurance with NU Direct i was asking about chips. I was told that if factory fitted there was no additional premium.

They should do. The standard 2-year manufacturers warranty is Europe-wide, isn't it? On UK-supplied cars the 3rd year of warranty is a dealer warranty, so I could imagine that might well be invalid if they don't supply factory-fit chips in UK.

That's what I wanted to hear - I'll have to phone a few insurers up and confirm.

Hi,
I'm also interested in getting a chip. Have you had any news back from the insurers?

Tesco increase the premium by the same % as the power increase - 38% in the case of the revo upgrade.

I suppose that's an easy way of doing it, but sounds a bit extreme. You probably end up paying far more than a faster factory car i.e. S3 or Leon R

hi guys , i bought my car in the netherlands and was told by the seat dealer that i could get seat factory chip for around 895 euros. it gives you a power increase of about 25 bhp without invalidating your warranty. if you try to bargain with the dealer, it could possibly be a bit cheaper. though the downside is that you will probably have to put a downtime of about 1 to 2 week on your car. cheers
