Hi All

As you can see I am new to the forum (and must apologise for my nick but it’s a left over from my Quake days and the only one I can remember). Just wanted a bit of advice, I have ordered a Seat Ibiza Sport 130 Bhp from Holland in Platinum Grey Metallic. I have added Rain Sensor Pack, ESP, and the Winter Pack. I just wanted to know your comments on the car and any good or bad things about them. Reading the forum it looks like they are a nice car and I must admit to feeling a bit excied about it (but will be a couple of months away as I have only just coughed up my deposit on the thing).

Oh and I know this sounds sad but I what exactly do you get with the winter pack?? It seemed to be a good price so I just said yes when it was offered, which is most unlike me.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum M8.

The winter pack means that you get a permanently frozen screen and the interior is always -4 degrees when you get into the car.

Actually I don't know, but I think it's made up of some or all of: heated washer jets, headlamp washers, heated seats. No doubts somebody will be able to tell you more.

LOL Thanks for the reply. You had me worried there, for a moment I did think that you were describing my wife. ;)

Welcome to the forum.
I'm well pleased I chose the TDi and not the 1.4 sport Its my first diesel but probably won' t be my last. Its quick doesn't handle too badly looks great. I find it comfortable (others don't eh fen). Apart from the expanse of black plastic which kinda spoils it a bit I couldn't be happier.
Ihave yet to read a bad review of it. Although most make mention of its overly firm ride. ( sometimes you can feel a bit thrown about )

All round great car.

Performance / economy - great
looks - excellent
drives - really well

shame about plastic dash.
Needs chipping to realise its full potential.

give revo a ring.

Hi Slayer

I too have one of these ordered from Holland (from Wim Pruys), and also said yes to the Winter Pack because of the cheap price.

The winter pack contains Heated seats, and headlamp washers. Given that diesels take forever to warm up, the idea of toasting oneself in a heated seat on a frosty morning was great.

Unfortunately, I've just been told (2 months after placing my order) that I can't have it on a RHD model. Wim doesn't know why, but it's in Seat's control and not his. It's quite odd as the parts are the same for LHD and RHD cars.
Quite a few others have also either been told this, or don't know until delivery to know whether it's been fitted or not.

Sorry to put a dampener on it, but don't count on getting it !

I have ordered ESP, Rain Sensor pack, and Xenons - and have been told I will get those. It's just the winter pack in doubt.

And don't get too carried away thinking it'll only be 2 months....it'll probably be longer.

Check out the Imports forum as well - lots of handy info.

Shame that as I was thinking how nice it would be to have a nice warm bum all the way to work. I was thinking of maybe adding Xenons as I have a couple of days before the order is sent to Seat to make up my mind. I must admit to being very tempted but adding them would put the car over my budget so the question has to be are they worth the money?

Still looking forwatd to the car even without the warm bottom :D

I think it's still worth ordering the Winter Pack, you never know, it might somehow make it's way onto your car...?

The way I see it, is that even with ESP, Xenons, Rain Sensor Kit, and possibly the power upgrade, it still costs less than what you could get a standard one for in the UK....

Can't say I know whether the Xenons are really worth the money, I just liked the idea of them.

By the way, I paid my deposit around end Nov/start December, and have been told it'll be built in Week 8 (late Feb I guess) - add on 2-3 weeks for delivery to dealer, then another week or so to get it back, I might get it around end of March if no more delays.
That's a 4 month wait; I was initially warned it might be 5-6 months.

Slayer - I forgot to ask - who have you ordered it from ?

Thanks MB

That's good advice. I think I will go for the Xenons as i intend to keep the car for some time so might as well go the whole hog (but I MUST resist the idea of sat nav).

Same spot as you. Have been told 2-3 months but could be a few weeks longer if i go for Xenons

That's 4 of us waiting for TDI 130's from Wim Pruys !!!

I reckoned adding the options was worthwhile - could make the car more sellable if ever they became standard fitment in UK.

Have you had any thoughts on how you're getting it home yet ?

(It may be better continuing this discussion in the Imports forum....)

I work in the same building as a car importer. Which is how I was first put onto a SEAT as my first choice would have been a Golf but i did think that the price both to purchase and insure were a bit on the high side. So they will bring the car over in one of their batches if i want and i just pay a small admin fee but I might go and collect it for the adventure.
