this is my new project :funk:

im planning to strip the car to the shell and replace all disscoloured broken moldings and window seals ect get all the wheels refurbed, new tyres sort out all the paintwork smooth the rear wiper and badge also have a mental clean inside shampoo the seats and take the floor carpet out and shampoo it, g60 arches big bumpers (front and rear)colour coded mouldings, remove the full beam lamps and debadge grill slamm it on the floor cyristal clear cross hair front lamps, clear indicators side repeaters

then maybe engine convertion not sure
or
clean engine up to the max and tuck away in the garage or maybe a second car run around :shrug:

has loads of spares with it aswell so might get back some more money too of the main price :D

Awesome choice of project mate, mk2's can look so sweet, hardly have to do anything to em to make em look really nice! Single light conversion would look nice, get the door handles off it, or mayb sum audi 1's?? Would look awesome slammed on the deck with deep dish 15's, proper euro style! Then mayb a 1.8T motor, or vr6 lump lol!! :D

if you are stripping the shell why not go for a smooth look ?

saves a fortune on new parts and mouldings and looks more updated too

i will be :) will have the holes smoothed over from the mouldings but i ment new mouldings as in window scraper mouldings. makes a huge diffrence renewing window seals window mouldings ect gives it a really clean mint look

should be able to get cheap genuine parts from work :D

going to buy g60 arches 1/4 glass seals n/s @ o/s tailgate window seal, drivers and passenger window scraper mouldings and tailgate black out vinal for now all the door mouldings ect will be plastic dyed back to black till i get it stripped for respray :D

also will be smoothing off rear wiper arm and n/s wiper arm on the front also aerial will be smothed fins in the front wings smooth the bonnet

a few of my mates have the mk2 golf gti's really do like them............prefer the mk1 gti's though.

one of my mates has put a g60 engine in his golf, should be getting it back in a week hopefully!! not 100% sure what he has had done but have been told it shud be quick!

these 16v gti engines are RAPID for a n/a engine and age i do like the mk1's but i think they need alot more work/money to look goodn so went my my favorite shape in the end :D

my social life is suffering at the mo butim bored of the same old pub every day and i got bored of the gym so nowim working on cars :D wil get the golf looking acceptable then il start getting leggless every day again :D

bought some sound proofmatting and instilation to pack in the doors, floor, boot floor, tailgate, bulkhead, rear pannel ect ect to make it a confortable warm non rattly ride :D

Lol, iv used dynamat b4, makes a big difference to quietness of interior, gonna start attacking some of the interior rattles in mine before I go to the ring, a couple of em are driving me mad!! Parcel shelf especially!

the beezer is my race motor so rattles are cool the gti is going to be my run around and my transport to shows work ect so will be made nippy but confortable if you put a mk3 gti bottom end on the 16v golf engines then it is produces 200bhp!!!!!

NA JUST THESE TWO ;) debt is a wonderful thing :lol: this is the plan

going to

have the cars paintwork sorted rust patch parking dents removed ect

stay on the origonal bbs rims just new tyres and refurbed resprayed ect

sound proof matting on whole floor pan, door skins, 1/4 pannels, rear pannel, boot floor ect and wax sprayed to protect from corrotion with some instilation to remove road noise, warmth and be comfortable!

obviously the recaro seats, steam clean the floor carpet, parce shelf, boot carpet, floor mats ect

retrim rear seats to suit the recaro's

SLAMMED HEAVILY on coilovers

BIG gti bumpers, g60 arches, bumper splitters, window mouldings, rubbers, door mouldings, 1/4 mouldings,badges all renewed with boot handle, wipers sprayed back to origional black (this will all give it the MINT LOOK!)

full system de badged/lights grill, exhaust, m3 style rear lamps, clear indicators, side repeaters and all little touches.

engine will be completly cleaned maybe rebuilt and ofcourse a 2.0 gti mk3 bottom end forthe magical 200bhp :D

that will be it and will be done very gradually! but cleaned my whole garage out today to make space for it :funk:

two things wrong with the car my work ramp decided it didnt likemy front bumper and the saftey flaps to stop you coming off when ramp is in the air decided to flip up while i was driving up the ramps and crush scratch deform my front splitter/bumper getting repaired next saturday and the turbo has starting blowing again DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!

i love my motor to absoloute death but this is now taking the pi55 might just sell up and live with the dub!

Well Fuel Actually Was Suppost To Be Trailored Down To My House 3hrs Away But Some1 Aparantly Stole Her Trailer So Im Making The Trip Down There! The Brakes Need Bleeding Too Which Is A Bit Funny As All The Brakes Had Been Changed Ect So Why Ar5ent They Bled?? just picked the car up and is GOOD AND BAD looks like more work than exspected BUT GOT IT FOR £400 in the end so cant complain :) VVV this isjudt so you get the feel of the condition :)

BAD POINTS>
it has had the dash ripped out and thrown back in
the lights on the back dont work
the arches are falling off
electric windows dont work
has break in damage on the b pillar of door on passenger side
the alternator belt squeeks like MAD
interior is riped and poo!
the front grill is broken
the coolant light flashes even tho coolant is filled up
missing scuttle pannel
dent/rust on o/s/f wing
steering wheel stalks are fcuked (wiper speeds, indicators, flash, highbeam)
fuse box wires are a birds nest
drivers door handle hardley works and doesnt unlock/lock with key :(
tailgate lock doesnt work with key
o/s rubbers are ripped
suspention feels loose and DODGE
exhaust has vertually fallen off
no headunit or wires :(
no history documents AT ALL!

GOOD POINTS
BBS wheels look awesome and are in very good condition!
brakes all work dandy and have painted calipers
tyres arent too bad front and back
headlining in great new condition
passenger seat in great condition,
dashboard NOT INCLUDING WIRES isin good condition
all door cards are in good conditon just need a clean
carpets are in good condition no rips ect
tailgate both rear quarters big bumpers bonnet front pannel in good condition
slammed on its arse on coilovers sounds bit iffiy (tho looks good)
engine is sound and nippy apart from alternator belt which il tighten up!
all glass is unchipped
all door mouldings are in good condion!

il get some pics up soonish of the bad bits and of course you will see the MINTING beguin

couldnt wait any longer to get my hand on the golf today was going to wait till the sold stuff has gone in the garage but i stripped the car down on the drive just door cards regualators rubbers wipers lights grills trims just to clean everything analy!!!!!! and asess all the body work to see what needs sorting ect! it is actually very clean in most places but where its bad ITS BAD will upload some pics from before i stripped cleaned it ect as it was too dark to take pics after but its all wrapped up under cover now :)

oh i LOVE a challenge and im bonkers for spending £400 but just needed something to MINT!!!!!

im just going to be doing the free things at the mo like stripping it down cleaning the exterior up and noteing what needs replacing and what im going to repair strip out the interor steam clean the car carpets the headlining spray door cards take out the dash and sort out all the wiring!! get the recaro seats fitted thats it for now when this is done then we hit the MONEY BURNER will be 1 to keep when im done :) and cupra brown this has gotta get a tad lower ;)

make sure you don't loose this enthusiasm, my ex had a mk1 fiesta he got as far as puttin glass in getting some seats, one bumper then gave up! It was a mint super sport model with no dents at all and 28,000 miles it spent its life on bricks! I don't think you are like that though you seems well off so money won't be a problem for you like it was for my ex!

little update strippd front end down rubbed down chassis legs de rusted them primered them and will be painting them tomoorw after work so shes coming along nicely order some bumper brakets too for the new big gti bumpers to go on ;) will be painting the fan cover/front pannel/brakets for horns lights ect gloss black so they will look new and got loads of chrome bolts to replace rusty 1's :D

think im needing a new tailgate as the rust has spread badley inside! new o/s wing too and some welding on the rear pannel too also will need to get the car on a rampand overhaul the underside of the car de rusting welding and spraying ect! loads more too do ill keep reporting back with pics ;)

also quick question ive got the bigger brakets for the big bumper conversion do i use the re-enforcer bar and legs from the small bumpers to fit the big 1's?????

hello :wave: i went to edition 38 this weekend and got trolleyed so no work was done on the beast over the weekend but have worked on it tonight i finally got the paint through from VW and have sprayed the chassis legs so now i can put the newly painted front pannel cleaned rad newly sprayed fan cowling and will replace all the jubaliee clips for new 1's and clean like hell!!!!

will get some pictures up tomorrow or day after when finished should make some GOOD progress tomorrow after work

also bought a new wing for the o/s/f

well an update for you all finally got into bed got up at 6am to go to work and got home and got straight onto the golf didnt even sit down :( but managed to get the rad lower re-enforcer and lower subframe de-rusted and resprayed build the radiator up and attatched it

got the front pannel on then built up the cleaned airbox ect

cleaned the bottles up but like a plumb i fcuked my battery leaked battery acid EVERYWHERE! so need a new 1 of them also got some pics of my german plates my debadge grill and eyebrow :)

cheers mate ^^^^ yer been working very hard!!! only just got in to bed now have been working all night on the golf ive built the front end completly up got all the washer/coolant bottles in and got all the pipework plumbed up and have changed all the jabaliee clips and given the engine a GOOD SCRUB has come up MINT MINT MINT!!!!!!! really happy with the results now the front end is done im getting the bodywork straight and rust free

i didnt get the new wing today BUT im getting it tomorrow and new battery tomorrow too :)

going to collect the welder and filler and pannel tools tomorrw from work and get started on friday cant do it tomorrow as the mrs has stomped her foot as ive not seen her for ages as ive been working sh1t loads on the golf!

finished work early on the golf tonight as im seeing the mrs! ive got a new battery a new o/s wing done tonight and had a bit more of a clean up round the engine and filled the engine up with new fresh fluids hasnt been started for at least 2 weeks and started in 1 click well happy with it! ive just bought some clear clustered front indicators in the bumpers for it bargain ebay buy for £4!

changed more bulbs for new 1's and tidy a few wires up so not alot really but only had an hour :(

need to tackle the rust now so will be stripping out the wheelsheilds and jet washing all insides of the arches to get rid of all the dirt that has gathered up and asses HOW MUCH arch work is really needed buying some g60 arches very soon and gti door mouldings and sideskirts will look much wider and mean!

willl update with pics asap as parents arent back with camera till next week :(

just read thorugh the thread, and the car seems to be coming on nicely. have got a soft spot for mk2 and mk1 golfs. wud like to own a mk1 golf gti in a few years as a 2nd car and clean her up like your doing

my mate has got a mk2 golf gti, but his is the 8v version. is alright, but im not quite sure what he was thinking with some of the mods...bike can! he has fully striped the interior and put a rear strut brace on it. has got a welded race seat and 4-point harness, racing manifold, bike can (dont know why!), back alloys with a chrome lip, and the car drinks more oil than an alcholic drinks beer in a free bar!

he has also got a super charger to put on it...eventually. will be pretty sweet when its all done though

ive ditched the recaro mk4 gti seats idea and have bought a full set of mk4 cupra seats like the 1's in my ibiza black clotch with red stitching as the recaros (only front seats cost me £210 and i got a quote to retrim the rear bench ect and it was £250! and im not willing to spend £460 just on seats!!!!!!!!! so they are up for sale the recaros now if any1 is interested

had anouther mate/pannel beater round and he is happy to do the work and had a diffrent opinion to the other pannel beaters opinions so its all good! all dents/scratches/rust/rot are outlined and highlighted :) im away this weekend fixing the flamin beezer so will get started on the scratches and dents after work next week monday/tuesday maybe wednesday then on thursday/friday and the saturday maybe into next week will be welding up the mouding holes single wiper convertion smooth rear pannel badge holes and tailgate wiper and washer jet de rotting the arches weld shut the areial hole on n/s wing so quite alot ;)

got the cupra interior delivered yesterday and is in mint condition can sense it being an arse to fit them but will be so worth it! aint seen cupra seats in a golf :D also bought some g60 arches and sideskirts last night for £110 ;) so is all taking shape now :)

heres the single wiper convertion and de aerialed the wing too once angain just needs rubbing down so il be smoothing the doors and 1/4 pannels tomorrow :funk:

im hopeing it will be ready for january as still got a long way to go!!!!!!! interor is a mess seats are a bugger to fit and still needs to be resprayed!

the ibiza is Done just the bloody clutch and silicone hose the golf is my priority at the mo! wanna get it ready for chugging to and from work and of course edition38 :D
