Hey m8 :) Well i'd originally order my Cupra with the chip done by UM but backed off when it appeared quite expensive compared to the various chipping companies in the UK. So, it was already on the cards :)

I used the arguement of "well i did originally budget for it on the car so i'm not really spending any more money" last night ;) Seemed to go down fairly well

Balked at REVO price, cancelled. Going to go with Jabbasport - car specific, and much cheaper - 600quid all in for remap (inc. rolling road) *AND* boost controller.
Too good to resist methinks, plus they live near me :)

Giving my mate a lift back fron Jabba tomorrow, as his Corrado is going in for some work. May have a word or two with em. Would get it done, but 2 things putting me off, Insurance costs, and a possibe trip to the US

Hmm:confused:

I originally intended chipping the car from new, so i'd looked round for a mod friendly insurer - I use Greenlight. When i took out my insurance the guy on the other end of the phone happily chatted to me about his chipped 1.8T golf and recommended i do it asap to the cupra  It's going to cost me about 8ukp extra a month for the chip - pretty reasonable i think.
IMHO (as much as it's worth), I reckon Jabba will do a better job *for my engine* compared to a generic remap. They spend a good deal of time (half a day) on your car with a rolling road etc to make sure you get the best performance in a way that suits you (sir). Good stuff.
It's cheaper too, plus i get a fully adjustable boost controller too. They are a family run business and very friendly - well worth a chat. Apparently, since their new website went live they've got bookings solid for the next month!

Not wanting to bother you Tim, but after speaking to the guy yesterday (can't remember his name), he said it is not yet possible to do the new Cupra's. He said the new ECU codes needed to be cracked before remaps could be done, and that may be a couple of months.

Ok cheers for that - i did say it was an '03 cupra so... hmmm will give them a ring today to make sure...

[One phone call later]

...ok Jabba confirmed what you say - the ECU codes have changed (interesting as REVO didn't raise an eyebrow) and they are waiting on the new checksums for it. Apparently they buy in the codes from a larger euro co. and it should be with them any day. I've got a month yet before i'm booked in so he reckons i should be ok - going to ring me in a couple of weeks to update me (top chap).

Not worried tho tbh - would be if it was like, next week. Even if you book in now you'd be waiting over a month like me :)

Well thats OK then, wouldn't want you to get there and then get sent away again. Think of the disappointment:eek:

Seriously considering this, but also seriously considering 6 weeks in the US. Going to be one or the other. I think the latter would be the better option:(

Anyway, if I go, who wants the car for 6 weeks?:D

I'll have your car for 6 weeks mate, I'll take good care of it and even garage it for you.

Do you want a lift to the airport in it also ? :D
