Hi Guys and Girls,
I have a 2001 Ibiza MK3 Cupra and was wanting to add a Dump Valve.
I have no idea what one to go for so i was wondering if you guys can help? :D
I dont want the typical "boy racer" Woosh i kinda like the "flutter" sound, I heard a MK2 Golf with a 20VT lump in make the same sound but he was going to fast for me to ask what he had. [B)]
Any help would be appreciated

theres only one really and thats the forge 007p recirc valve
must be used by around 80% of owners because its cheap and it works. others exist but you either pay more for the same thing or less for one of a lesser quality.
noise is much more affected by the intake than the dv since recirc valves are sort of silent, a good intake will gain a nice audible turbo sound effect

I've been looking on the net and found a few people recommend the Forge Split R Valve as the 1.8 20vt Vag lump likes the reserc but the split R Gives you the "sound" too.
Anyone know where i can get one as i cant see it on the forge site! I must be blind [B)]

I run a splir valve and mine makes a flutter type noise on low boost

Do you like the Split R? Any benifits over the 007p?

Ive run both. I prefer the split r because it makes a good noise on the car. There are no benefits over the 007 valve. You only buy the split r becuase you want more noise.
the 007 on mine was quiet with the set up I have so I changed it for the split r.

Thats perfect for me then, I dont want much noise... I should be putting that on tonight when i gwt my car back. I need to send the standard one to Stan The Man who I bought the 007 off.

Sort of, its hard to describe. Its the characteristic of the valve, ive spoken with many people running these valves and they all seem to get the flutter sound.
I'll try and get some footage of this over the weekend and host it on here for you all to hear. Sounds good. On low boost it makes a flutter sound and then on full boost it just gives a clean whoosh.
Yeah, get your pics up soon mate, I wanna see what your wheels look like, have u had them dont yet?
Did u get an exhaust in the end?

Havent had the wheels done yet mate. I had them cleaned properly and they looked mint, so im going to see how it looks with the mud flaps on etc and then see if im going to have them done. Im pretty sure I will, just need to be certain before I do it.

forgot about the split R valve tbh, but personally i prefer a set up consisting of the 007p and a proper cold air intake. much more of a long, loud ssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhh sound as opposed to a puttisssh
what ever floats your boat really

Just something differnet,
Thanks for the help guys

Ill certainly give it a bash, just depends on whether my pc will let me upload the footage from my camera.
ps - Ive yet to hear an Ibiza that sounds like a RST;)

The way the split-R valves is by dumping some air to atmosphere, but not enough to flag up any errors. I'd rather (or I did) go for the 007P with an uprated TIP, decent induction (Open cone will be very audible). The best way to increase the noise is a remap, more boost is more noise...

Not seen the vids of my two Ibizas then? lol
Well maybe not RST sound, but VERY loud all the same....

And your car is running a 007p? I didnt think a 007 was a "dump valve"?
Glassy80

Yeah, thats noisy. Im not sure im gonna like that...
Molehill_Mike
09-08-2007, 14:16
007P are recirc valves, quiet.
Mine is that loud on the Blue car due to an uprated TIP, an OPEN cone induction kit, and the K03S turbo conversion, running 21PSI of boost.
The IHI is that loud because its a massive turbo with 27PSI of boost, not 6PSI like a standard Cupra.
Very few people have them that loud, but I quite like it, tis the small amount of Chav in me I guess!

Cool, i should find out what it sounds like tonight. Ill post up my thoughts tomorrow morning.
Molehill_Mike

Are you remapped? Or as your sig says standard?
If standard, then you'll be boosting to 5-6PSI. With a standard airbox you won't hear anything. Car will just feel better.
To get most from the DV change, I would reset your car battery. Saves the car having to adjust...

Nah, im running on around 205 bhp as I had it re-mapped. Plus im smoothing off the standard air box and installing the Green panel filter this weekend as well. Shouldnt be too far off 210bhp come Monday.
Reset my car battery? What do you mean?
DougsCupra20vt
09-08-2007, 15:27
I think he means disconnect the battery and leave it for 10 mins or so then plug it back in and start the car. Your ECU should auto adjust to the Air filter and other bits.

Cool, ill dis-connect the battery while im modifying the airbox then. Cheers...
A 007 wont make a blind bit of difference to the sound of the dump compared to standard. They both release air into the TIP.
And open cone and remap will on the other hand increase the sound.
Personally i think my 'dump' is too loud and it annoys me on 007P, Samco TIP and Jetex open cone.

Why dont you go for an enclosed filter then Phil? Move the Cold air feed to the front somewhere, further for the dumps "echo" to travel, therefore, quieter??
Got any clips of your cars "dump" Phil?
I found it a little laggier with an enclosed filter and cold air feed e.g. dynatwist or BMC.
I've tried standard air box, BMC CDA, Dynatwist with and without cover and without and without cold air feed and open cone jetex filter. The open cone Jetex and open cone dynatwist pulled better figures on the MAF than any of the other setups. The BMC was the worst, like 8-9g/s difference between that and the open cone dynatwist.
You learn to live with stuff really.
This is the only vid i got and its not that clear in sound...

This may be a daft question but what is the difference between FMCL007 and the FMCL007P. Cheers
The P is adustable in the way it fits iirc. no difference in usage though.

So the 007P you can fit in reverse if you wish and the 007 is just normal way round. So no difference other than that. Ah right. Cheers
Sorry if this isnt in the right place, but didnt see the point in starting a new thread... will a 006 dv be as good as a 007p, as i have been given one for free?
acidstrato

yes
I've run a 006 for the last 5 years....it's a top DV. Same as the 007 just a bit bigger iirc. it's still fully serviceable etc
Ahh cheers lads.. ye i got the service kit from forge already

At the start of this thread you wanted a quiet dump valve but then you got on about loud ones lol.
If you want quiet go for the 007 and if you want loud then go for the Turbosmart Dual Port
