Ladies, Gents, I know most of you are aware of the benefits of running a better quality fuel (VPower, Ultimate... or even 102 if you've the pocket for it!). However it seems that there are still so many customers spending out a fortune on software, exhausts, race cats, intakes but still only running 95ron fuel. There are possibly still areas where it's difficult to get 98ron fuel however spending the best part of a months wages on full stage 2 spec. kit and running it on what I like to refer to as horse p*ss seems a waste of time! ;)
Example: Now I don't have the dyno graphs to hand but one of our dealers recently had in a Golf Anni 1.8T for stg1 software in, the car was running what was left of a tank of 95ron (aka H.P.) and the dealer set the car up on their dyno. 198bhp peak was the best it was seeing, this was a relatively hot day as well. The advice given was to get a full tank of 98ron in the car and come back when that's done, the next afternoon the car went back in and was set up to suit the 98ron fuel... 218bhp with an extra 18ftlb of torque peak. Now although it's not the most scientific example as it wasn't done on the same day under fully controlled conditions the tyre pressures were checked, the adaptation reset prior to setup and the dyno the same. It does give a good idea of the differences in performance between two fuels.
I've not even mentioned other benefits such as crisper throttle response and the like, but hopefully I've put a point across. For minimal outlay in cash the gains of running a quality fuel are huge.
