By saying 'RCA converters' I presume you mean a device that will convert the speaker line inputs into a RCA output, thus allowing you to connect your amplifiers etc.....

If so, then yes they do exist but are not by any means reliable. Most installs using this device will suffer from interference.

My Ibiza is on order so i haven't been able to test what i'm gonna do, but it might be worth trying a line driver as well as this will help boost the signal as it travels through the car.

Speak to Huet Car Audio in Brighton on 01273 735700 if you want advice or want to order a new one.

I've used them numerous times before and they're normally switched on.

I got a cheap Autoleads one from my local Halfords/Ripspeed.

It was only about £7.

Thanks for the offer flapper but i think i will need 2? I have 2 alpine v12 2 channel amps to put in so i presume i need one convertor per amp yeah? Is the sound quality much beter than using the speaker level inputs?! I cant see how it would make much difference but im a bit clueless!!

Cheers

You probably won't need two convertors. Check the amps you are getting as some have RCA outputs to chain to another amp. In which case you use the convertor into the first and then chain the two amps together.

I was on the Alpine web site last night, you can get those joining plates so the amps can be joined together and look like 1 massive unit.

Yeah you can get them for a lot of amp manufacturers. I know Rockford do one they call it the Link or Bridge or summit. :p

Original or what :)

If your after an alternative amp manufacturer try Dragster, very good electronics, they are or at least were a subsiduiary of Rockford, from South Africa i think, but the kit is superb and doesnt come with the premium of other manufacturers, plus they look good too.

I use a 2ch 1202 Dragster Amp to power my Focal Sub, it pumps out 120 W RMS per channel which certainly kicks :) I have it bridged just thru my Sub, so that its using 240 RMS, my sub is rated to 500W RMS, so still got some way to go.

I've already got 2 407s and an alpine 10 inch sub from my old car, just gotta get round to installing it all! I've checked the amps an there is no output to connect to another amp so i guess i'll have to buy 2!!

I like the sound of this bridging section to connect the amps, if anyone finds somebody who sells them can you let us know the company and the price?
