just wondering if adding a sports box, f2 bumper and larger rear spoiler onto the boot on the cordy makes much difference in acceleration and top end, the spoiler isnt set at any angle just flat 180 deg.
scotty, you'd probably know the answer to this one!

It must sap some power and acceleration, but it depends how much it gives in return, you may lose 1-2 bhp, but gain it back from the sports exhaust. I did notice a bit of drag when I had the rear spoiler on my toledo, but not on the cordoba, but then I did have the engine conversion donne at roughly the same time as fitting the spoiler so it would have balanced out.
Playing around with the angle of the spoiler does have some effect on the cars handling - I took it up on to a small airfield nearby and my mate stu helped me set it up - if you set it at a strange angle it can make the car feel a bit skiitish (at high speeds of course - bugger all difference at 30mph!)
the only way to be sure is to suck it and see - or some phrase like that!

scotty ,
my new spoiler uses the three standard holes on the boot, is yours the same, reason im asking is that one of the metal tappers that goes through the one of the holes got knocked off the bottom section of the spoiler while in the boot on the way home from curby, seems like its only held on by a bit of glue, if this is the case surely they would be a sinch to steal???
any ideas on how to get it secured on better?

If you use a good epoxy glue like arraldite or something then the bond will be stronger than the fibreglass it's sticking to. The original spoilers must be the same and they don't come off that easy....

mine must be a bit different, as the pins which bolt through the boot lid screw into the spoiler first, and then a nut fits over them the other side, there's no adhesive on them.
if yours is in three pieces like mine: check the bolts which hold the flat 'blade' part of the spoiler in, as they can work loose when new. If you have silver caps which fit over these bolts (that hold the spoiler at the right angle) glue them in place,as kids like them.
The other thing is to put a nut through the boot hinge at the back, this acts as a stop and prevents the spoiler going through the back window! you will see a little black cap on the boot support, and above that there is a circular hole near to where they overlap - stick a nut and bolt through there and your windscreen is safe.

yea, cheers mates,
i'd heard about the windscreen problem..thanks for the info, my spoiler is a two piece, same as Dave A's old one.
