View Full Version : Strut Brace for a Toledo
Starting to get a bit worried as I can not find a Strut brace for my Toledo TDI. It's usually my 1st mod (after the floor mats;) ). Does anyone know of a suitable strut brace.
Front - use a LEON one ?
Rear - i'll have to check cos of seats

Which Leon one? Is there a Leon one? Have looked through the OMP site and they don't have a Leon one:(
Well they actually have the front lower one, which is nice but I want both upper and lower front.
Can't use the rear one:D :D
Hi prc,
We had a couple of guys here opted to use the front strut bar from the Audi TT OE strut bar.
It doesn't look great but it fits well on 1.8 NA and 1.6 NA toledo.
Not sure about TDI & V5.
I'll try to get some pics from one of the guy.
:D
Thanks for the info Mel. I try finding one off a junked car to see if it fits.
prc,
Here's the pics from one of the mates here :D

OK...the LAST pic :D
It is an OE VW parts for Audi TT. Doesn't look good but who cares, I don't drive with a open hood
Thanks Mel.
It actually does not look that bad at all. OK no shiny bits, but as long as it serves its purpose.
Actually from the 1st 2 shots you sent it really looks like it will fit.:D :D

Looks the tits!!!:D :D Me want one!!!!!:D :D
What does coming soon mean? Hope it's not like the 150 tdi engine getting over to the UK;)

The brace in the picture is modelled from a TT original brace.
We have one similar for the MK4 Golf , we are finishing 10 of both types, we then will be finding out what models and makes they will fit - properly-.
If you know personnlay for sure that a S3 original brace fits then the MK4 brace will fit
:)
Audi do a strut brace top and bottom of an S3. They're dirt cheap. Bottom one is £15
The top one may need some minor mod to clear your bonnet lifter. Fits most MKiv based cars.
AMD fit the audi part to MKIV's, leons ets, but charge a lot more than it costs from audi.
I will try to get my hands on a TT one (as they are quite cheap from the junk yard), and later work up to the forge (money & fit permitting).
GTiT -
You mention a S3 lower, do you have a part#? Do you know if it's available on anything else (like a TT), as S3 are not easy to find hear. I would like to try one off a junked car, just to make sure it will fit.
Mel -
What size bolts are you guys using (OE bolts perhaps)?
S3 top brace 8l9805629A (£41+vat)
S3 lower brace 8NO199403b (£12+vat)
cap nut N90810601 (80p+vat) x 2
Screw N10417601 (53p+vat) x2
washers N90477301 (42p+vat) x2
The top brace will need to have your turrets drilled, and have some captive nuts put in. You can get the screws and washers anywhere, but I couldn't be arsed, just to save a couple of quid. Not bad for £66 all in.
I'm not sure about the size of the bolt. I'll check it out, but I reckon it is the OE bolts.
The best part is the Audi TT strut bar fits perfectly in place with no modification.
Well, downside is it's not a looker :D
How about this from Neuspeed ?
We've got 1 guy fitted with it. Looks cool !!
The neuspeed stuff is very good. I used their stuff extensively in a mk3 golf. IMO to expensive though. I really don't care about the looks, need it to function correctly.
Besides the price of both OE audi parts is probably less than the Neuspeed bar alone.:)
Thanks for the Help.
Yep, me going for functionality over looks :D
Neuspeed stuffs are pretty expensive over here, but was looking into their rear sway bar kits :D
Been trying to see if I could change the rear anti-roll bar to reduce the understeer characteristic .... what do you think, any other options ??

Neuspeed is expensive in europe as well. I'm lucky as I go back home 2-3 times a year (so I could pick it up then):)
I'm looking for the bars as well, but only latter on this year as I have already spent a bundle on the ICE + REVO (this month as well) + strut braces = "mucho dinero" :D ;)
The only other company is Eibach (but I'm not sure they make them).
or try autotech (used on scirocco)

Mel,
One of my Leon friends fell in love with this one. Do you know what car it for?

Hi,
Do you have to tell the Insurance people about these and what bearing does it have?
Thanks in advance

You should tell your insurance company about anything you mod on the car that is not an OE part. They might wish to bump up your premium just because it is a mod even though it has absolutely no bearing on power figure and it cannot be seen from the outside.
