Most of the stuff from Halfords etc is not suitable for fuel injection systems (but I'd guess that's a pressure issue.) Do you mean can the outside of the tubing be damaged by fuel?

I'd say the safe bet would be to get some of the VAG plastic type tubing. I need some to plumb my Walbro in.

I used pipe designed for fuel when I fitted my S3 pump and I definately do not recommend it.

After a week my car was going into soft limp due to lack of fuel. I pulled the pump out and the layers of the pipe had separated and collapsed.

Like DPJ suggests, only use the plastic type.

I've bodged mine for now with a length of VAG plastic pipe but the peice I've used is too short for my liking.

Anyone know where you can purchase plastic pipe off the shelf?

No, I'm looking myself. On ETKA , I see dealers supply the pipes made up. The shortest one is pump to filter.

I think that stuff is too rigid. Needs to be quite flexible to bend round, otherwise it won't move with the spring setup. Also would be difficult to fit though the tank hole for fitting.

Done a bit more searching. Looks like these guys have PTFE pipe that should work okay submerged.
