View Full Version : Twin Fans Gone - LCR
My 54 reg low miles LCR has had the 40amp fuse go on the front fans. Apparently according to the local SEAT garage a not uncommon fault ? The car is having them replaced under warrantly ( an expensive job) next Saturday. Picked up this weekend. has anyone else had a problem on a 04 LCR or onwards ? If so what causes it ?

The fans or just the fuse?
I had the Car MOT`d fthis wkend - the first one. They picked up the fuse had gone. However SEAT say that if the fuse has gone the Fans are dead. So they are replacing the lot. I just am a bit confused/worried it will happend agin as I run out of warrantly on the 10th October. What are your thoughts ?

Well as you know from searching both the fuse going and the fans going are faults with the LCR, infact the fans going is also a fault on MK1V Golf etc as well.
It's not a common fault but does happen.
It's worth getting some spare fuses from your Seat dealer and keeping them in the car because they are not easy to source from a motor dealer.

it may just be the fuse, it may well be the fans.
replacing the fuse may just fix it temporarily...
as said above, its not 'common' but it does happen.
as the dealer are repairing it under warranty id not worry. in fact you will have nice new fans on the car, you would be unlucky to have it happen twice, and even if it did, you would surely have some warranty on the new parts...

Cheers mate - that little lot has just blown my mind !! I will ask SEAT some serious questions , I dont want to be facing this again in 24months. Is the fan controller available from NIMES a cure or a prevention as well ??

well i am kinda hoping that the guys that have put in one of these controllers will let us know in a month or so how they are going.
replacing the fans is just too much money to even enterntain.
