Ok, a bit of history first.
I had a 51' Nissan Almera 1.8SE that I got in 2004 and then in june this year I got myself a 96' Toyota Starlet Glanza V Turbo, with the intension of selling the Almera. But the Almera took time to sell, so I ended up putting them both op for sale at the same time as I couldn't afford to keep both. And as sods law goes they both sold within a day of each other and left me without a car .
So I borrowed my grandads little micra while I got some funds sorted out to get another car. After much searching I decided I wanted a mk4 Ibiza FR or Cupra, and after driving them both it had to be the Cupra for me.
I picked up the Cupra on friday and I'm so happy with it.
So here they are, past and presant.

Yea, the mirror's are the first thing to go. I'm going to order some cupra black one, a new style cupra gearknob and a strut brace on tuesday.
@ Octane- yea the glanza was nice, undriveable in the wet though (it would just spin in 1st,2ndand 3rd), but it was realy good fun. Proper old skool turbo, lag, lag, lag and then boommmm, turbo would put you into the seat.
Any mods planned for it?
Also those alloys look like they're darker than usual, have you had them resprayed?
Damoegan
22-10-2007, 06:50
Gaz - The alloys were like that when I got it, but I dont think they have been resprayed coz the spair looks like it has never been used and its the same coulor.
Firs thing is to sort out them chrome mirrors and get a new style gearknob & a S2000 ariel and a auto window close unit, hoping to get them ordered this week. Then save up for a remap.

For the glanza, who did you insure with? as my cuz is having trouble find insurance companies who do glanza (NOT starlet GT turbo)

It was A-Quote my friend, was only paying £392
The Seat looks miles better. IMHO. Good choice of car and even colour. Hope you have plenty of fun in it.

Yea, amnesia, the cupra is absalutly mint. I'm loving it. Just ordered some black mirror covers for it and just got my kvw 100 auto window close kit and just finishing off my flip key (just the transponder to swop over) and start to save for a remap

Looks great ...I got an Fr 130 for a courtesy car and I swear it had been remapped as it went a bit to well... but it didn't sway me as I went for a Meg R26 in the end ...great cars tho

Around the same time I fitted my boost gauge and new head unit
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa275/damo_egan/18122007131.jpg
Then I got a center arm rest of the gf for chrimbo
http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa275/damo_egan/18122007129.jpg
Then someone did this to my grill so I fitted a de-baged grill

I've got a green pannel filter coming in the morning from badger bill and a Baily dv on the way off ebay, then I'm gona order a N75h valve so it should be nice and frisky for the rr day on 6th March :D
Also got one of those stubby aerials http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=142983&highlight=stubby+aerial and a signal booster :funk: and the outo close window kit thing (kwc100 or whatever it is called) [B)]

Its a little valve with three vac pipes going into it and its just after the MAF on the induction pipe mate

And changing it makes what difference?
Damoegan
10-02-2008, 23:32
It controles boost maps. It normaly holds a bit more boost (2-3psi) and holds it longer in the rev range (I think)

I've heard that with adjustable dump valves (which yours isnt) that you should get them set up properly on a dump valve friendly rolling road as you can sometimes loose boost if they aren't set up properly!
Yours looks tidy though! :)
You shoud get a video of it put up on here! :D Would be curious to hear what it sounds like. :)

I'm having some problems at the mo mate. Its losing boost at about 4.5k rpm, dropping back to standard boost and it is running very lean.
I've put a new MAF on and I'm gona try a new N75 valve next week. If that dont cure it I'll have to take a trip back to see Will at p-torque

I've had some problems sorted out lately. Had the drivers door lock replaced as the microswitch that opperates the interior light and headlight buzzer was fooked, and also had a new radiator fitted as mine was loosing coolant.
I've also had a bit of a boost leek which has been getting worse lately. So at the weekend I done the N249 bypass and tightend up all the hose clips on the intercooler pipework, which seams to have sorted my boost leek out. Still not holding the boost properly though .
Got a OMP strut brace ordered that thould be here tomorrow, so that'll go straight on. I've also got a centrer sun visor to fit when I can be @rsed

how much did you new radiator cost if you dont mind me asking?? i have the same problem with mine
It didn't cost me anything mate as I got it done on the last day of my warranty :p
But the invoice says a total of £350 for replacing the radiator and drivers door lock for parts and labour :-o
On the invoice it says: Radiator - unit price £42.50 and then - Price £80.75
So I aint 100% sure of the price, £42.50 or £80.75. But at a guess I'd say it was £42.50 as I'm sure they bumped up the price for the warrenty company though.

lol damo mate getting in on the last day of the warranty. I was just about ready to give u stick for not doing some of the work yourself, the re-read haha. That brice looks well nice kind of a cross between the forge ajustable and the momo seat on.
However I must say Im not sure if the full circle around the strut top might look weird the others are only on the inner 2 bolts, will have a ganders when its on and probably want something else because of you lol!

My parents have an 08 plate FR and they have an indent in the roof lining but dont have a centre sunvisor. So if I made a hole in the roof lining for the screw - you reckon there'd be the bit behind that i could screw it into?
Didn't wanna risk it on their brand new car and then get left with a hole in their roof lining.

Yea mate there will be a hole for the screw to go into. I just used a pin to locate it and then made a very small cut with a knife where it was. It took a while to finde the hole as the roof lining is actualt quite thick (about 10mm)

I love this one :) ^^^^^^^
how much did it cost for your detail, what did it involve and how long did it take and has it removed many scratches? Sorry for all the questions but my car is black too and want to know if ot worth getting this done and if so what kind of detail as theres probably differnt levels you can get done? I have a new quater panel and they machine polished it and it looks swirly and rubbish!
Damoegan
01-08-2008, 22:59
it only cost me £60 for a machine polish and wax. But he told me that almoste every panel has had paint at some point and poor paint at that. So he could only give it the very lightes of machine polishes because he doesn't know the thickness of the paint and didn't want to go through the paint.
He washed & dryed it first then machine pilished it and applyed 2 coats of wax, he also done door shuts, sills and wheels. It is much better than it was before but I'm thinking about getting it sprayed now as I'm still not 100% happy with it.
Thanks for that sounds good for £60 have to try and find someone round my area that can do as I spent hours claying last weekend, all nice and shiny and feels like glass but lots of scratches some of which according to Ad Lav can been polished out. I love/hate my black car!
Damoegan

Forgot that he also clayed it twice too.
Try a search on yell.com for car valeting services in your area, thats how I found the company that done mine.
Yeh will do a search for sure, I presume all detaillers clay first as theres not much point shoving tonnes of wax over the car without doin that first. Claying is THE best thing I've ever done to make the painwork its best, hopefully mine can look like yours especially in the first pic look fantastic!

Small update. Took off the strut brace as it was rubbing on the engine cover and doing my head in. Gona order a seat sport one when I'm back from holiday.
My SEAT Sport strut brace rubs too! Just took a bit off the back of the engine cover with a dremmel tool. Not a great job but doesn't rub or knock anymore...
Car looks great!

Not done mine as of yet matey, but gonna buy a dremmel* and butcher it off, i think its only a slight amount tbh, if it bothers you then just take the cover off till its done.... my exhaust tone on my non res milltek hides any noise it makes anyways ;)

It was quite quick mate. 133bhp as standard and weigh about 900Kg so they move some and quite easy to stick a bigger turbo on, proper old skool though. It makes a big difference with the tip on. Im running full stage 2 revo with milltek non res turbo back etc and it holds boost much better, and it spikes at 22 psi too. IMHO i think it also revs alot easier with the tip on :)

Fitted my Forge TIP today and what a pig of a job. Had to take the rubber top part off the oe tip to be able to turn the the metal part into the bulkhead so that it would pass a hard water pipe just to remove it [:@]
Then I had to cut off about 2" of the Forge TIP so it would pass the same water pipe. All in all it was a VERY tight fit.
Results: Wall the turbo spool is so loud now and the dv sounds louder :D and seams a little smoother. Although I have only drove it about 2 miles so must do some more testing :drive1:

Should look great with darker wheels....Look foward to seeing some pics :)

I'm getting them done at http://www.a1autocraft.co.uk/garage/garage.html as there are bases just round the corner from where I work. They specialise in building replica Cobras, GT40's and stuff like that. He said he will do them for £180 for the 4 and I can have any colour and finish I want :D

I dont have it on now mate as it was rubbing on the engine cover so I sold it to another member.
I will be getting a proper Seat Sport strut brace when I can be arsed to sort one out. Strut brace prob wonte affect your insurance as it soesn't increase performance, as its more fore cosmetics.

Damoegan
14-11-2008, 21:54
Noise is just right. While cruzing you cant even hear it, but when giving it the beans the turbo whisstle is MUCH louder as is the DV sound. It also has a very nice sucking sound when the turbo starts to spool :D
It does seam to pull a little stronger but I wonte know till I can get some logs done. I was getting quite low MAF readings before so hopefully this will help.
The filter is just a cheapo halfords one clicky. Looking good mate, I've been tempted to get a cone filter but I think my under bonnet temps are too hot. Is it just a louder turbo woosh noise?
BTW I don't think the position of the MAF up and down would make any difference, only the distance from turbo. Cleaning them is meant to help and is cheaper than replacing!

I've had no problems with heat soak mate. You have to think about how goot the intercooler is. Which is very good ;)
Louder induction noise, turbo spool and DV noise :D

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa275/damo_egan/19112008068.jpg
I think tha SAI is more for emisions, so removing it just cleans up the bay a little.
I just double checked this and according to Elsawin there is no EGR system or valve, but there is a combi valve which is used when the SAI is in operation. It works in a similar way to an EGR valve but doesn't recycle exhaust gas into the air intake like an EGR valve. Looks like the 2 things get mixed up quite alot tho.

After driving 4+ hours back from p-torque today, got home opened the bonnet and the filter was actualy cold to touch. I was very surprised.
