Hello there fellow SEATer's,

Like most other people on this site, my car seems to have a couple of squeaks. Some consistent and annoying and others seem to come and go.

So, I decided to contact the dealer to book it in to have them sorted.

They were as follows;

1. Squeaky dash
2. Squeaky drivers seat (not as bad after adjusting seat)
3. Squeaky passenger seat (only when passenger on board)
4. Knocking in rear

Gentleman came to pick up my car (1 hour late by the way) and I watched him drive it off (sad, I know). I park in the corner of the car park out of the way of other careless drivers, but the numpty old boy driving decides to take a short cut accross the kerb rather than letting the car pull forward out of the space before turning. Lucky, no damage!!

Anyway, car came back (30 mins late) after all the work being done.

I spoke to the service manager and he let me know what he'd done.

1. Took the dash apart, padded it out, tidied the wires etc
2. Adjusted the drivers door
3. Adjusted the passenger door
4. Tightened all suspension etc.

The dash still squeaks, louder and more consistent than before. Also, when the put the dials back in, they're off center and some of the rev counter is missing off the side and I can almost see down the right hand side past the speedo.

Why did the adjust the doors when it was the seats? I even told the bloke when he picked it up that it was the seats. Seems they made crap notes when I booked the car in and therefore assumed it was teh doors. There was nothing wrong with the doors!

Knocking seems good so far!

The service manager said he's been doing the job for years and squeaks come and go and there's nothing he can do about it. It's all to do with the plastic heating up and cooling down. He was also on about the car being made in sunny Spain and now it's here in cold England, it all starts to squeak.

What do you think I should do?

I was going to take it back to get the dials centered and hopefully to see if something can be done the fix the squeak. It's coming from just above the dials, where the domed bit meets the rest of the dash/facia.

Sorry, alot of that written above is crap, I'm just a bit wound up by it all. Adjusting doors, wonky dials, worse squeak, driving over kerbs etc.

:dunno:

What can you do about these things?

Chris.

I can sympathise with you m8... I had a gripe with a particular garage and my solution for the shoddy workmanship was to never take my car to them ever again.

My philosophy is that i want it to be right 'first time'.. And no fekin excuses.

a prime example of the above is that my car has until yesterday been pulling left since day one... I had the wheels optically aligned by the local SEAT dealer at a cost to me of £60.. still the problem, and the steering wheel was wonky.
I had 4 new tyres fitted yesterday and as a bonus I had them check the alignment and tracking (extra £10), they needed to adjust the front left wheel by a considerable amount.... Its an absolute nightmare to get aclimatised to now cos im not used to the car not pulling all over the place and the steering wheel position..

And the point of this is... that why wasnt this done the first time?:head:

(apologies for the rant).

Possibly find a more welcomeing garage to actually fix the faults you have.?:(

well, not exactly local, but not too far for you is Hussey's in Newbury. They have been very good with my car and given me a courtsey car, maybe they might be a better bet in the future.

Is your dash getting rectifyed by the same garage? Not sure if its worth it, but you could always contact SEAT UK. Probably say its a dealer issue, but worth a try

i have had and still do have the very same problem ..i have been back several times and the response was... loosly quoted ' the car is made in spain where they drive on the other side.. the cars tracking has been compensated for the camber on their roads.. hence the reason for it pulling to the left' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
