View Full Version : Cat bypass systems ? + mirror cover.
Hi all,
Was trying to get a special price on a supersprint exhaust at the local shop - guy mentioned that I could possibly get a cat bypass system instead- although he couldnt quote me a system - I was wondering if anybody had any ideas who would be able to do such a system and the cost ?
On a different story, a few months some shithead ripped of my mirror - i managed to get a replacement fitted at short notcie but it is burgendy - I know that it comes off but I cant see any point in getting it sprayed as there is nothing else needing colour coded - does anybody have a kiwi yellow cover that tehy would like to sell or give to me, I would pay the postage .
Cheers
Chris

ovv, powerflow do systems but as for the cat bypass thing, wouldnt really bother cause i took my cordy to my local powerflowand they were quoting 325 for a stainless steel cat back system including a customised backbox, type of sound, size and amount of pipes. i was talking to their head man and he said that a bypass is a waste of money cause for the mot you will have to have a catalytic convertor installed and that a sports cat would be a better bet although it doesnt really free up that much extra, maybe 2-3 brake at most, your best bet would be to get a supersprint 4-2-1 manifold, powerflow customised cat back system and you should notice a nice little bit of extra geegees and nicer noise from the front right throught to the back. :fart:

From what I've heard of powerflow exhausts make sure you have a set of ear defenders and a family size bottle of asprin......
That's why I went for a supersprint, they use thicker stainless and design them to give more power and not noise. Powerflow use really thin stainless from what I've heard.

Thanks Guys - Supersprint it is ...........

I wouldn't worry about the cat bypass pipe. It doesn't release that much power and you'll have to put it back on everytime you need to MOT it.
Also how old is you motor and was it a Seat UK car? Mine is probably one of the first over here, a promotonal car or something and it doesn't have a standard manifold/cat. So I couldn't have the centre pipe fitted without having an adapter pipe made. I just got the backbox in the end.
