so yesterday my car was pulling and pulling and it felt like the air was sucking in, flowing through and gushing out as smooth as silk.

today, a 1.6 golf and every other 16v family size hatch on the motorway was just as quick, and they prob weren't even booting it.

i was.

i know the answer is gonna be - "so buy a 20vt." but i had a new car and 5k in the bank, and gettin this car for 6k, selling my old new car for 5,3k etc has left me with 500. (?????) not impressed. (ok, new sofas, 20k service, little prang into a forest, etc. didn't help)

would a re-map make my car's performance more - 'consistent' - ?

also, would a re-map improve performance AND fuel economy - as i have an induction kit and cat bypass?

and... i live near to a superchip centre, miles and miles away from AMD. Superchip give 7 days refund promise if your not happy (-£60 labour non refundable). so if it doesn't do what i hoped for, its only cost me £60. whereas it would be tuff with AMD and it's cost me all that mileage as well.

The AMD chip is good though. Had it on mine and made the car faster and did increase fuel economy which supprised me a bit. had the same mods on at the time too ( cat bypass & induction but with full milltek exhaust too )

how much faster?

unofficially - i'm not asking for figures, cos i don't know what +10bhp or +10%torque feels like. but, was the remap really noticeable - like the difference between a 16v and 8v? almost?

i have some days where i feel that mine pulls better than the 16v's i test drove and other days when i feel like i'm driving a sporty lookin average car. i think we'd both agree that a standard 8v is better than standard 16v low end, and the 16v has the mid-high end advantage. but does an improved 8v loose just a little low end power but mid range is as good as 16v? cos the 16v's i took out were great mid and top, but off the mark felt good but not at all what i expected, whereas the 8v i test drove was rapid 1st, 2nd not quite so good and 3rd, 4th 5th didn't touch the 16v. now i've had catbypass and 57i induction kit, the lower end torque is less noticeable but i actually have some top end and the mid range is much better as the car revs easier and happily. basically will the re-map give me the 16v mid range 3-5k up to 4th gear - but not top end, whilst maintaining the 8v low end torque? if so -it is sooo for me.

i do admit to being hard to please at times!

The differences your experiencing could be down to something as simple as the weather. When the air is cold and clean, the engine pulls better, when it damp or warm, then it doesn't.

What has the weather been like during the days you talk about.
