View Full Version : Closest in sw?
Right I am seriously thinking about upgrading the chip software in my Leon, I am based in Somerset (Taunton). Where is the nearest place I can get this done? Also is Revo the only chip that can switch back to factory standard and are any of the other chip upgrades detectable by the VAG computers? Possibly thinking of the Upsolute route as it's half the price of the Revo program. Any comments?
Thanks in advance.
Well, you have RPM in Wellington, but they're effectively AmD which isn't the current fashion.
Bill (Ibizacupra on here) is in Gloucester and is becoming a Revo dealer - maybe is already.
Are you petrol or TDi?

Hello
Badger5 is a REVO dealer now... Located nr Glos, but mobile. (07976 800775)
There is also Powermap down in Bristol... (Ian)
REVO and SPS1 will give you switchable from std to performance mode.
SPS3 will give you further ignition and boost adjustment and additional security feature.
SPS2 will give std mode, 95octane mode and 98 octane mode and security feature.
Depending on the model of your car there is also a 5 hours demo version to try before you buy...
No hardware to install. Serially programmed and undetectable by dealers.

Upsolute will come and pay you a visit rather than the other way around.

And then there's TSR just up the road.
I have a 180 brake Cupra. I have looked at the Revo option but I think it's too expensive compared to Upsolute for example. I don't know if Upsolute is switchable or detectable by the VAG computers. I know Revo is both switchable and un-detectable. I have heard of Tim Stiles Racing before, what do they deal in for the 1.8T? Beezer, will Upsolute come to me then for a chip upgrade?

Upsolute are the bargain basement upgrades.
I have heard of many people who have needed replacement chips sent to fix probs...
They're cheap, but they're not in the same league as REVO or Jabbasport bespoke mapping.
I looked into being Upsolute Dealer late 2001 but decided it was'nt for me. (I don't want to experiment on customer cars, resupplying different maps etc)
(flame suit on)

Bill do you travel for upgrades? I would be interested in the 5 hour trial, maybe that would swing me into going the Revo option? I just still think it's a bit steep thats all. I have noticed that a lot of people on here are going that route, but also a lot of people are saying it's a bit expensive too.

I do travel yes.
Where abouts are you?
REVO is'nt the cheapest nor the most expensive, but then again do we all buy on price alone?
I can do the demo... What model car? (not all cars are able to have demos)
cheers
Bill
Bill I am in Taunton, have a 180bhp 03 Leon Cupra. I know what you are saying, sometimes you get what you pay for, going cheap can be a false economy. But I have seen some good reports of the Upsolute on the Leon on this site. But also seen some bad ones for the Ibiza turbo.

Bargain Basement - Charlton are bargain basement aren't they ? Possible Champions League place ??
I would say priced so not to break the bank.
Everyone earns different wages, and everyone wants to spend different amounts on their car, we just offer a 'cheaper' alternative to others that are out there.
As for probs, if there are any I will do my damnedest to put this right - of course there's always the money back guarantee that the customer can fall back on.
If anyone's got any further questions then you can reach me on simon@ccctech.co.uk
Cheers
Simon.

Hello Simon.
Not having a dig at you, as I know the Upsolute dealers will support the product... I've not heard anyone get left in the lurch unlike some "other" tuners I won't mention. I have heard of a few swaps being required to refine code etc...
At the end of the day I know Upsolute use the DimSport software so I understand why prices are low. ( I looked at it in 2001 as I said, but it was'nt something I wanted to persue in the end)
Plenty of space for everyone... and plenty of choice.
at the end of the day, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
Decisions decisions.

Hi Bill,
I just didn't want people to misconstrue what you had written.
As you and me both say - there's plenty of choice out there and info to boot so everyone can make the best decision depending on their personal circumstances.
Thanks
Simon.

True :D
Wish I had had as much choice in 2001...
