Welcome to the forum :)

Yeah, those are the 15" SE wheels.

I didn't think you got an 04 Sport TDI 130?? ... I thought the 53 was the last then the 04> was 100BHP (5-Speed) :)

The wheels you have fitted look good though, are they from an A3?

are you sure thats a 130?

yeh positive its a 130. its got the six speed box. it was originally from ireland so only thing i can guess is that the specs may be slightly different over there. other than that the only other thing is the previous owner may have changed to those alloys. had my revo stage 1 done. its fantastic. massive difference to standard.

Yeah its a Motorpoint Eire import, they got 15" SE wheels and aircon rather than climate.

Done a few little things to te car.
1) Debadged the boot.
2) Had the mirrors painted body colour, and the boot, rear bumper and rear
1/4's sprayed as some little ******* keyed the left one and the boot and bumper as there were a few imperfections in the paintwork. Only cost me £60 for the lot though so not too bad.
3) Put a cupra intake on. Need to get a panel filter now.
4) Fitted a sony headunit so i can use my MP3 through it.

Right, Few little updates.

Had the car on the rolling road at RS tuning a month or two ago.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h243/tom-walton-13/sigpic.jpg

It ran 166 bhp and 285ft/lb with some sort of boost problem at high revs/ Fairly happy with the power. Just got to find out whats wrong with it now.

Second thing, i got very bored one evening so decided to get some paint and have a little play with the engine cover.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h243/tom-walton-13/DSC00282.jpg

Just waiting until august now to change my insurance which will allow me to drop it :D
Cant wait.

Recently (for the last 6 months) ive been having trouble with my car going into limp mode.
First thought was turbo. Not something i wanted to go. When i had it RR'd it wasnt running right. The power was going down each time unless it was turned off then started again.
Having spoken to a fellow member he mentioned one of his friends had a similair problem which had been solved with a FMIC. This being the case i thought i would buy one and give it a try.
So i bought the forge cooler from a certain smokey car driver known as T.Spark and then fitted it last night.
Results have impressed me big time. The car feels a lot more responsive on throttle and just feels to have a lot more about it, the best thing being that it no longer goes into limp.

From memory, there's a small mounting bracket on the back of the bumper which needs to be modified slightly, but then again I didn't fit mine as it was done by Forge. However, the full instructions should be on their site somewhere...

Okay, maybe you don't?

Full instructions are here (http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/media/Ibiza130pd%20fmic.pdf) anyway.

Tom.
19-08-2008, 23:33
Had a look on there site and to be fair there fitting guide seemed a bit useless. would have been better with some diagrams showing where things were supposed to go.
And as for trimming the bumper it didnt say anything about that on there. Just that youmay need a hacksaw/stanley knife.

I dont think I ever bothered personally, however if you are going for that OEM look then im sure its a cable tie for the pipe to lift it up to fit the fog light, and just cut a section off the inside of the front bumper where ever it gets close to the pipe work so it sits flush.

Glad to hear its stopped the limp mode at 130mph+ anyway matey :)

Nah not at the moment. Havnt got any fogs in and its pushing the grill out but ive realised from looking at pictures the answer is to mount the intercooler slightly towards the passenger side. Gonna give it a try when i get chance.

Well its update time again. Up until now the mods have been slow due to insurance issues however im now insured with brentacre who will allow me to do any modification at no extra cost with a limit of 180bhp.
So insurance being sorted i decided it was time to sort out the terrible ride height.

Bought myself a set of FK Sport Edition+ coilovers.
I decided rather than pay for a garage to fit them id do it myself, so took on this task yesterday afternoon.
The fronts were a bit of a nightmare but once i had it sussed was pretty easy. I decided the easieast way was to remove the drveshafts from the hubs as these restricted the amount of movement on the shocks. Once these were out it was plain sailing.
The rears were a doddle and were on in half an hour.
Anyway the important part.......

On the ramps...

All done...
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h243/tom-walton-13/DSC00410.jpg

I have changed the ride height on the front ever so slightly sicne the photos were taken and will be updating with more pictures later after its been washed.

What damping settings have you got yours set at? Think you're the second person on here to fit these!

Tom.
26-10-2008, 14:59
Not a clue mate. Not even sure on how to set them to be fair. i know its done using the adjuster on the top of the strut but how do you know what setting its on?

You can't really now you've fitted them. But when they are off, you push down on the shockers and twist the thing on the top. You then work out how soft they are as to how quick the shocker opens up again. You have to take the back shocks off to adjust them now but the front are adjustable from the top of the struts. Just pop the cap off. I lost one of mine down the engine bay.

Tom.
26-10-2008, 15:09
Ah bollocks. Well to be fair backs arent a problem. Can have them off in 5 minutes. Had to do it last night as i'd forgotten to tighten the two bolts on the top of the shocks. Pretty happy with them so far. Just a case of setting damping now. Which setting is the hardest?

1 is hard and 6 is soft. I've got the front's set to 2 and the rear's set to 6 (as no one ever uses the back - the car 95% of the time only has me in). Anything softer than 2 and I found the front end was very bouncy. The thing should click as your turn it round. Hold the bottom bit of the knob and twist the top of the knob. Otherwise it might not click. You'll know if you set it to it's softest setting as it just bounces everywhere!

Just give the knob a twist to the left then? I think it is? Basically turn it from 6, to 1. If it's even softer then just keep tightening it up.

Looking good. I'm getting mine fitted this week, so i need to tell the mechanic how to adjust the dampening. So how do you actually adjust it? I take it he will know how to lower it for me though.

Tom.
26-10-2008, 17:21
Not a clue still mate. Your best bet is ask Ibiza 130 tdi as he knows. ride height is blatantly obvious once you see them and if the mechanic cant work it out then i wouldnt be trusting him with my car.

Are yours gonna be damping adjustable? most coilovers aren't.....

And they'd be stupid to not know how to lower it.

Today i had a drive out to T-sparks place to try and get his car running again (boost pipe with no lugs left on it).
After 3 attempts and a couple of big black smoke clouds later we finally got the pipe to stay in using a variety of different jubilee clips and cable ties (top bodge).
Having fixed it we decided to go out for a ride with Danny (VRS owner) and get some pictures, so here goes...

Slight update.

Just had cambelt service done. Only cost £180 ;)

Also, my car decided it didnt like the front nearside wheel whilst travelling along on the motorway the other night. Needless to say the brown touched the pants.
Got an artists impression:

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h243/tom-walton-13/n510836679_1698766_5296.jpg

Was very lucky to be fair. With the car being quite low, and the disk:wheel clearance not being that great, the wheel stayed in the arch, preventing the car from scraping.
Upon looking at it, all the bolts had fallen out
Wheels havnt been off in over 3k miles so if it was due to not tightening them properly, they would have gone a long time ago.
Only thing i can really think of is that someone has got it in for me, or tried thieving my wheels and been desturbed.

Also decided on my clutch setup at last.

Going for the helix setup with single mass flywheel, as i plan on going big turbo in the summer. Before anyone tells me that the flywheel will be noisy, i know. Ive been in, and heard from outside, another PD130 with this setup, and i will be able to live with it.

Hoping to get it in a few days before the 1st Feb to allow some time to bed it in before Santa Pod.

Shouldnt be too much of a problem, as im having it fitted at my dads place and when i rang helix they had the parts in stock.

Also forgot to mention,

Thanks to BKR for giving me a set of wheel bolts to replace those scattered accross the M62, in exchange for buying his meal at the next meet. Saved me a fair few quid on that one.

Tom.
20-01-2009, 23:18
Yep checked the rest and they were fine.
Slight bit of damage on inside of the wheel but nothing too serious.
Tyre was fine, just a tiny patch on the surface of the tread but thats worn off already.
Its also folded the lip of the arch under a bit bit can sort that for next to nothing anyway.
Not sending it in for any paint until i get a facelift bumper though.

Yeh the alloys are 16's. I did consider going for 17's but prefer the 16's personally.
As for the coilovers, there great. The ride is firm but i do have mine set on the hardest damping setting and wound all the way down all round. When they were slightly higher with softer damping, the ride was better than standard. Doesnt take much doing though as the standard sport suspension is shocking.

Right its update time again.

Clutch has been slipping for a while now and ive finally given in.

Ordered myself a Helix setup from awesome.

I decided to go with the single mass flywheel as im not bothered about the noise, and with plans to go down the big turbo route later in the year, thought it would be the more sensible option.

Think the total for parts came to £871.71.

Would also like to say thanks to Sarah at awesome for sorting it out for me. Very friendly helpful service.

Just hope it gets here in time for Thursday as its booked in at my dads place for fitting.

All going well it should be fitted and bedded in, in time for sunday at Santa Pod. :)

Yep the undertray is still on. It is very low to the ground though. Think i have 3 threads left on either side but thats only a couple of mm.
Im running FK's too. Which ones you got? Highsports by any chance?
I went for the sport edition plus as they were not much more and had adjutable damping. Highsports may possibly go slightly lower?

Forgot how it felt to accelerate between 2-3K rpm.

Bit of noise on tickover, but i expected that, and can live with it.

Performance feels better and gear changes are much better.

So all in all, im pleased with the result.

Very much over exagerated to be fair. Doesnt feel much harder than the standard unit.

Difference is in the bite. Its much more crisp. Its either in or out.

It makes the standard clutch feel sloppy.

Hopefully see you tomorrow night anyway.

Good to meet you too mate. Hopefully not the last time.
Could tell the second i accelerated in second gear that it wasnt mapped. Didnt quite have the urgency about it of a mapped car. Will be good when it is though.
Glad your happy with the cooler too. Just need clutch and a stage 2 map now.

Yeh fairly happy with my times to be fair. Cant really complain at a 15 dead. Certainly wasnt down to my launch as my 60ft time was 2.2seconds which is pretty respectable from what i believe for a FWD car.

Heres the result:

De-wipered.

Only broke one clip when removing the plastic interior panel, but its one of the end ones so doesnt fit great now. May get the super glue out another day to sort it.

I am thinking about doing this! Then pikey'ing up a spray for the FMIC. :D

I took the trim off once and broke loads of the clips. Bought a new trim and didnt think of de-wipering. Don't want to break the trim again so may leave it for a bit!

Tom.

It looks a lot cleaner on the back end now.

Yeh im looking into making a pikey IC spray. No doubt me and ballbag will sort it on both our cars, so will let you know how it goes once its done.

Just thinking of disconnecting it from the washer bottle (if possible) and re routing it from there instead of taking the whole lot out the car.

Will then get some washer jets and mount them in the cross member. :)

Tom.
22-02-2009, 19:10
Still undecided on colour. Gonna look into it a bit more and then decide.

Same goes for the wheels. Think im going to look out for some cheapish 16's and have them in a bright in your face colour for when i want it to stand out.

Stefan. The backs will be remaining the same yes. Dont feel the need to replace them to be fair as it already squirms a bit under hard braking.

Antnee. Yep no issues with clearance. Very tight fit but they do fit and will look spot on.

 Tell more!

Basically, driving along on the M62 on way back from cinema with the missus, doing about 70, and all of a sudden got a massive vibration through the car.

Started to pull towards hard should and as i got into the slow lane there was a thud, and felt like brakes had gone.

got onto hard shoulder, pooing pants, and i thought suspension had failed as was so low on the front passenger side.

Jacked the car up and the wheel fell off. Basically all the wheel bolts had come out.

My guess is it had been tampered with as they hadnt been touched in about 3k miles, and if they were to go from not being tightened sufficiently, they would have gone a long time ago.

Only damage was it folded the arch up slightly.

Probably not lol. What paint did you use and how much did it cost?

I used engine lacquer. Really thick paint and dries like a plasticcy finish. Dries really smooth and glossy finish. And it forms a thick old layer! And of course is ok with heat. ;)

My mate spilled some on the garage floor when we painted his engine and he tried to scrape it off with a chisel when i dried and it'd stuck well hard! And that's to a dusty garage floor!

It cost about £5 i think. :)
