Hi everyone,

I know this has been probably already said in a thread, but on Friday my beeza is going to my local audi garage on friday and they are going to install that trial REVO software and see If I like it so i will spend 500 spondoolies with them. I dont know if anyone has tried, but when they put the trial software on, has anyone plugged their laptop in with VAG software and seen if they can do anything for the software to last longer. Its a bit cheeky, i know, but It would be rude not to, to have a look.

Cheers

Your local Audi garage is doing it? Is this an official car dealer? If so it would be the first to offer REVO.

Now then,

I did think this and was a little surprised, but one of my mates is a sales executive there and I was talking to him about the new A3 and he asked about my beeza and asked if I was aware that audi also do the REVO upgrade, instead of me driving down south.

I live two mintues away from my audi garage, so I am booked in Friday afternoon. I am awaiting a phone call, to see what they are going to do.

Si

So I guess this isnt affecting the warranty on any Audi's sold through them and REVO'd?

As they do not have to lift the bonnet up or do anything mechanical they are pretty sure that the software is 100% bullet proof.

They did tell me that they have done many audis for customers especially the TTs here in Lincoln, and they have all been really happy with the outcome.

So to sum up, as Audi (obviously) are part of VAG (otherwise it would be VG!! I am assuming that if you get REVO'd at this dealer in Lincoln or any other dealer offering this then Seat could not argue that this invalidates the warranty? So the main selling point of REVO being undetectable would become a bit unnecessary anyway then!

They did not say anything about warranty to me, but i would of guessed if customers are getting their cars revo`d before picking them up they are getting their full warranty still.

Very interesting. I think a lot of people on here would be very keen to read this post. Any chance of naming the dealer?

I think it is just called Lincoln Audi.

You're all being a bit silly.
A lot of Vag dealers will chip your car and although this does invalidate your warentee, they take the attitude of 'what VW/audi/seat don't know won't hurt them' They are franchises so it's no skin of their nose.
Naming these dealerships on open forums just brings it to Audi/VW/seat attention and gets the dealer in trouble. Slap rist to dealer, Bye Bye your warentee.

These forums are read by the car companies, so I would update your posts to remove dealer names etc and only circulate these by PM to people that you know well!

If this dealer is openly doing it then its up to them. I think the manufacturer must have more contact with the dealer than they do to these forums so would find out anyway. The dealer by the sounds of it isnt doing it at the back of their garage cash in hand but openly offering it to their customers. Without getting into consumer law if you buy a car from a dealer and are given a 3 year warranty then nothing they do to it should invalidate that unless it is explained to you that it could be a consequence. Your contract of sale is with the dealer and the warranty is part of the product you purchased.

It is perfectly acceptable that whatever the dealer offers may invalidate your warranty. They might offer an additional warranty but there's not much in it for them so may tie you in to servicing etc with them.

The warentee is a factory warentee (ie on the car as it left the factory) Any modifications that can be proved to have caused a failiure invalidate this, as does not maintaining the car to the manufacturers schedule.
The dealer will not be offering it openly (unless they are v foolish)
Most dealers do it, but are a little cagey about the whole thing (for obvious reasons).
Read your warentee, it is a pan european, 2 year from Seat, not the dealers. The dealers are a franchise! The third years warentee is from SEAT UK.

Surely before you get it done, you might think of asking this question about what is covered under the warantee hee hee !

It could be an expensive upgrade in the long run if you aren't covered and something goes wrong, whether it be cuased directly or not b the upgrade.

It will be given to you in writing, so that you know what is / is not covered in future.

Had got my hopes up there.

Exactly. Unless it's a factory approved mod eg SEAT Sport MOMO strut brace etc then your warranty will be on the precipice. It does not seem to be like a PPP package from Subaru.

And what happens when Lincoln Audi lose their franchise? Your warranty will be difficult to use then.

I think what they are doing is completely genuine, cos when I went to Audi on Sunday and saw the sales Executive, Every desk i saw in the showroom had REVO leaflets all over the place. Now I know I did not ask enough questions and thats why I am awaiting a phone call, but as The sales executive I spoke to seemed to be very confident in what he was saying.

Thing is your original post said they are only promoting the 'trial' software. You would be quite unlucky if something went pop in 5 hours. The longer term stresses and permanent software may not be warranty covered.

and what was he saying ?
