View Full Version : Just came in the Mail
Just got my ECU back from Revo. Trying to leave work early for install and testing at local track tonight!
Just hope it doen't go into limp mode or something of that nature.

Yes I will do that. I will only try the car today for a couple of runs. It has to stay in the garage, because I have also bought the cruise control which has to be fitted as well.
My hopes:
1- that the car doesn't completely die right after 4000rpm (a few extra rpm would be nice).
2- it takes out the small dip in performance around 3200 - 3400rpm

definatly as full boost comes in at this range (3200) at 18psi (stock is 7)

Congrats, now hoppefully you´ll realize what diesel-power really is about!

Been home for an hour and still got a stupid grin on!!! Sh@t, I feel like a kid again.
1st impression:
I need to work on the brakes :D :D
The car pulls like there's no tomorrow. Will try borrowing a GPS to get some times in.
Thanks guys, must admit that it's alot better than I expected.
Are you going to get it RR'd at some point. I would be interested to know your torque figure.
You bet. I'll try booking a RR tomorrow.
Thank feck you finally got it sorted. I'm chuffed for you.

Smoke, a bit when the boost comes on but that was normal. Will try switching back to normal diesel and see what happens (I've been using the BP diesel ultra).
called the only RR place I know in Caldas, was told that they only have a opening the end of next week. Do you know of any place? Maybe in Lisbon (but I don't know any).
thanks again guys

prc, in my experience BP diesel ultra does nothing for smoke output.
Our tuned TDI150´s seem to smoke exactly the same as stock..but obviously it depends on the power/torque level you aim at, in our case 190-200bhp and 380Nm-400Nm seems to be a good & reliable figures.
In lisbon area, you have a few reliable (Vamag) dynobenches..maybe you can give Autopamplona in Amadora or MDL in Caneças (918750641) a call.
If you happen to come to Lisbon give me a call if you want! My mobile is 917570646 (Rui Monteiro).

OK.. ;)
Very busy this week so I didn't get a chance to call. No RR yet.
A couple of things though (for the Revo guys).
Just about the time that boost is coming on 1600-1800rpm I get a small amount of smoke. Didn't have it before, so wondering if you also get it. That and a bit of transmission vibration are the 2 things I notice now happen.
Stll not one regret, the Revo stuff is really fantastic.
I used to get transmission vibration but now I drop a gear to try and avoid it. Yes you do get more smoke.

You should definately avoid <2000RPM at wot, because the turbo hasn´t yet spooled up correctly (due to the lack of exhaust gasses flow) and might surge (peak boost very high), even resulting in a blown turbo..
The transmission vibration is a common symptom of excessive torque that the engine mounts/gearbox/clutch can´t handle. Usually we tune our TDI´s below this noticable torque limit. Once again, if you avoid very low rpms at wot you should be on the safe zone.
Whenever you do get the chance, just call me. ;)
