View Full Version : got it today
bought myself a cordie today,am very happy with it too so far.
couple of niggly little things to improve it but am chuffed to bits, handles better than the beeza in stnd form, pulls well not quite sure on comparison with the ibiza yet as not given it much pasty(though i did beat the mrs home from manchester, she was on a train though).
have to say that rustys of scunthorpe seem a very nice bunch, picked me up from the train station and cut me a very nice deal, fitted some wiper covers on demand(pinched from an arosa:))car was ready waiting and valetted for me to test drive and then take home with me(gotta be the fastest sale james has ever done)fully serviced taxed mot'd .
the mrs and daughter love it too the mrs had a spin tonight and confirms it pulls better than the old beeza.
anyway thanks james and all concerened at rustys heres to some happy motoring:cheers:

Cantabrian Blue? Not a common colour, esp. on a Cordy SX. It's not ICEMAN's old car is it?
Enjoy the new toy Jase, are you sure you don't want to use those calipers and carriers to do a 256mm brake swap and let me have the 280's off the Cordy? ;) :D

I was in a position once to buy either a new 8v Cupra or an Ex Seat management 16v Ibiza Gti (not cupra..the one with silver alloys)
I loved the look of the 16v and its power when in the band but as I knew I was buying the car for my wife and not myself that she would prefer the easier power delivery of the 8v.
If I'd been buying for me I would have got the 16v
Please everyone else that does not mean I think the 8v is girly...
Oh dear..me expects a Pasty Squad attack:eek:

Yeah :D That sounds like 1st and 2nd gear! Does she do 40 in 1st? Never tried pushing that hard in 1st gear, tend to change up for a nice long rush in 2nd and 3rd, more drive there.
Jase, welcome to the fold. Personally I'm not sure about the colour, but pictures tell you jack compared to looking at them in the flesh, so can't wait to see it.
The forum has got loads of information when you really open it up, particularly about suspension, F2 front bumpers, exhausts, and so on. Loads of us have tinkered and experimented, so if it ain't here, ask away.
I'm hoping to change the suspension and maybe do some tinkering with brakes. And then something special that I'm keeping under wraps. But, before I go into that, I'm rattle curing. The car's driving me nuts! :head:
chester
jason's been about a little bit with his less than standard ibiza :)
the blue looks better in the flesh though.
Mark
Ah yeah mate, I meant in the Cordy! Now he's got a car with a more substantial, and indeed useful, aR53! I must admit, I am an aR53 man! Besides, I can't get my 4X10 bass cab in the Ibiza.
Jase has been mulling this over for what seems years. I don't think he'll look back to his short aR53 now!
Hey beezers, I'm not saying it's an inferior car, coz they're near enough the same. I'm just into Coupes, that's all.
Have fun, and leave that sun-roof open to smell the rubber as you blast off, and then remember to release the handbrake. :D

and even better in the sun, especially when clean. its what made me by my car when I first saw her:cloud9:
will look the bollox with white wheels
Nice one jase! - one joins the cordy club as another one leaves! :D
Must admit, although the ibiza doesn't handle quite as well as the cordy I love the 8v engine - anyone who thinks these are slow is nuts! pure grunt :D
....then again the sound of a tuned 16v hitting 7,200rpm is rather pleasant ;) :)

Good grief man, what sort of a bass cabinet is that? I can fit a Marshall 4x12 in the back of my Ibiza upright! I should point out that this is a flat front cabinet, not one of the half angled ones (1960B as opposed to 1960A)...

Spax cannot develop a coilover kit until the Summer :( but KW do coilover suspension for the Cordy - that's what's going on mine care of Eurotech. They do a stainless steel kit for the same price as the standard one at them moment. :D

It's a Col's Cab, custom built to Celestion specs, with Trace drivers. It's quite responsive, really nice!
I put my 4X10 in the boot back facing down, then my head to the side of it, two leads bags, effects, mixer. Then there's a sub, a 1X15 on the back seat, and my 5-string Bass Collection in the back on the floor. I couldn't get my 4X10 through the door of the Cordy or a Ibiza (3 door or 5 door). In fact, I had a look at a Leon and even that wasn't big enough in terms of boot space. I'd have to fold both seats down and slide in everything in, meaning that there's a lot of space for things to slide about. The Cordy's just perfect for loading my gear into it!
It's a shame really, I quite fancied having a Leon next. Don't think it's on the cards really. It might even be Toledo next. At the moment though, I'm sticking with my Cordy. I'm even feeling like Jase and continue to do stuff to it. Stopping blasted rattles is next on the agenda. :head:
