Only about half built but when I bought it. Going to have it road legal but also use it for track days and hill climbs. I have got rid of the wheels so going to get nice wheels, seats and a new steering wheel to begin. Opinions please.

Top man - that's one hell of a fun car!

I hope so! Its going to be all hands on deck to try and get it finished for summer although not going to rush it too much. Even my old man ( a time served mechanic) wants to come back from Spain to help.

You do realise it will never ever be finished - but that's the fun of building a kit car ..... it's always delayed because you can customise everything to your own taste and design. Are you going bike engined or something more sensible like a xflow / zetec or vauxhall lump?

Kendo

I bought it part built so it basically looks like in the pic. It has everything to finish it so its just a matter of fitting rather than building. It has a fully rebuilt ford 1660 xflow engine with twin 40 delortos.

Not 100% sure on power. Going to get it tuned and on the rolling road when built. Power to weight ratio should be amazing though.

Will this be attending a meet in the summer then?

4 - i hope that's you and 3 mates :)

As a comparison, it took 3 of us about a year to build a Mk1 GTM Rossa a few years back .... that was a lot more work though and we were only working odd weekends.

I reckon 6 months absolute maximum if there's 4 of you on the go.

WIll give you some idea of power - tbh anything over 100bhp in something that weighs less than fagpacket is going to feel pretty hairy :D

Nice!

Personally I think those wheels suit it!! How about an anthracite refurb?

I was thinking about a similar project a while back but a mortgage soon put pay to it!!!
How much would it be to buy one of these at that stage of the build?

I'm keen to see the progress. I love all these projects.

Just hope the summer will be better than last years, otherwise you'll need to invest in a pac a mac if you want to use it

My etb instruments digi dash. It has rev limiters, shift lights, lap timers etc plus all the boring day to day stuff. Worth every penny of the £427 I paid for it.

That was one of the main reasons for buying it was a sunday car and to hill climb it at forrestburn mate.

I can see the track from my house (through binoculars....), but never been to watch. Looks a lot of fun from the photos I've seen.

How's the build going Kenny? :) I was up at Forrestburn today for an hour. Left because I couldn't feel my fingers anymore to use my camera in the extreme wind up there!! Quite a challenging track by the looks of it, especially when the drizzle came. Saw a few moments at the final hairpin. :D

Kendo
28-06-2008, 15:44
Alright mate, builds coming along quite slowly. Probably going to be next year now before its all road legal. Need to post some updates soon though. Glad you enjoyed the hill mate. Both hairpains are by far the best parts on the track and as you say even better in the rain.
