Any help would be appreciated

What don't you like about the head unit?

There isn't a head unit to speak of.. it is all just incorporated into the centre console computer. The head unit is actually fairly reasonable in terms of power output and signal quality, and it all pretty much depends on what you plan to play through it.

I personally always play CD's (Bangin Choons) or listen to my mates that work @ Galaxy (Yorkshire/105). I therefore stuck a changer in the boot...

the only problem I find is with the power capabilities of the speakers, they are fine for mid and high range frequencies but when it comes to low freq (28hz-50hz) they just don't push it out clean or with conviction, which kind of poses a problem as the majority of the music I listen to is based aorund big phat bass lines.. !! lol

So... unless you want something tip top high tech massive power, then I wouldn't bother changing the head unit, but just suppliment with extra's like changer and new speakers.. and if you really do require more power to drive subs etc. then get either amps to go into the boot, or get another head unit that will fit behind the existing centre console (as mentioned on other threads).

I am presently waiting for Unicar in Leeds to get back to me with a quote for purchasing and fitting of some Pioneer TSE-6995's (6x9s) which I hope will solve my bass refequency problem without having to take up more of my precious boot space with a big sub...

Phew...cheers mate thats helped me out a lot........

I think that I am happy to leave the head unit and just get the mids sorted, also I would be looking at 2 x 12's with poss two amps running it.....for the moment though I think that I will just get a changer so that I can listen to some CD's can't bear the thought of having no tunes and I have no tapes ;)

Many thanks for the info...where are you going in Leeds? I was born in Leeds...Cookridge!

Unicar is down Kirkstall road.. just opposite the ITV tele station..

I also lived in Leeds.. I was at Uni there for 3 years and lived in Headingley.

I Still have a load of mates that live there now, and am mates with some of the DJ's from Galaxy, so I go out over there whenever I get the chance..

I know Cookridge yeh.. been there on the bus a few times when I have been drunk and fallen asleep and missed my stop.. lmao.. u know how it is as a stoodent.. :)

I heard from someone else on these forums that Unicar were pretty decent at what they do and not too badly priced either.. which is good.. as I don't like paying the earth for the work, as I could do it myself if I had the time to learn what I was doing, but I aint got no time right now.. I know I know.. the man who wants everything but just doesn't have the time to get what he wants...!! lol :p

well.. glad the info was of some use.. if I manage to get a quote back from Unicar for the work I will let you know what the score is.. and hopefully it won't be too bad.. and can get it done soon, or when I get back from snowboarding in january.. ;)

Yeah, is it near the fire station past Yorkshire Telly Studios? Have not been back home for 3 years now and I am told that it has changed a lot

If you lived in Headingley you must have gone into the Chained Bull, Cricketers Arms, and erm the two that are further towards town by the war memorial, cant remember the names now..used to go in there a long time ago!

Will be going back home soon as I have got a mate that is at Leeds Uni now, probably end up in Majestyx for a laugh!

lol@your bus journeys!

Let me know whats happening if ya dont mind!
