View Full Version : panel filters
looking at getting one for the car, anyone recomend one, infact anyone using one, or you all gone down the induction kit route?
reason for getting one is this:the air box is an ideal heat sheild for a panel filter as an inductionkit will need one making for it,and although i have made one for me 1.816v it would be easier just to add a cold air feed to the airbox and still retain all the pipes and wires in there original places.any help or comments welcomed:cheers:

jase, the airbox looks very restricting to me, i reckon most of us 16vers have gone for the induction kit with ducted cold air route.
the noise alone is worth it over the "silent" airbox.
Admitedly I like the noise of my induction kit, although I think that's the only difference it makes. If I didn't already have it I would probably just stuff a bigger air intake pipe into my air box, and maybe drilla few holes for a bit of noise.
niose isn't a thing now(ibiza with striaght thru exhaust got too much)the engine alone sounds sweet just wanna get rid f the top end flat spot, and free up the breathing .

I used to have flat spots up the top end.
Had a K&N panel filter with drilled airbox up until a few weeks ago, then fitted a Stoeve Induction kit and Power Rohr pipe.
BIG difference (sound and top end power). The previous engine mods now work. Running a straight through exhaust too - only make more noise than pre induction kit when you give it welly....
lucky ,you still got the panel filter?cash waiting.sooner give it you than demon tweeks:cheers:
I have one jase, for a 8v though, don't know if they are the same?
think they are mate,i'll check for deffo, swap ya for a decat pipe?
or let me know how much you want for it;)
If they are the same then swap would be good.
I didn't use it for long and has been in the box since so is more or less as new.
Cheers

Yes still have the panel filter.
Decat pipe? Hmmmmm.
don't think it will fit the cordie lucky, ours is welded in from memory and the 8v one is a bolt on job.
steve i'll find out if it'll fit mine and i'll be in touch
I know the 16v Ibiza shares the same airbox as the Polo Tdi and I think Glyn told me that the 8v shares the same airbox as the 16v Ibiza. Found out cos K&N 16v Ibiza panel filter part numbers are wrong!! Best ask Glyn. :)

I've got a K&N in mine and I should have the paperwork for it. I'll post again tomorrow with the facts if I've got 'em.
