Has anyone got a Clifford alarm fitted to a Seat? Ideally a Ibiza 20VT.
Ive heard a few "Scare storie's" involing VAG vehicles and Cliffords having problems with conflicting systems (ie throttle poetentiometers) and such.
I wanted to get a concept 500 with remote start.
Ive ordered my Ibiza from holland and taken off the alarm option as i know how bad VAG alarms are.
Has anyone got one fitted that can offer any advice? IE had a shit load of problems and such or even better some good reveiws on the alarms.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
 I've got a clifford Concept 300 running sisde by side with the standard SEAT Alarm system on my 20VT Cupra and I have'nt had any problems..

What is wrong with them?

Im also running a Clifford 300 G4 system on my Leon, alongside the VAG Volumetric Alarm that was fitted as standard.
No problems, had a blown fuse once in the door, and the dealership decided it was easier to blame the alarm, than the dodgy fuse, they replaced it and it hasnt done it since, that was about 11 months ago now.
To be honest im not sure about the remote start features, you could be opening up a whole can of worms, it would be best to cehck with Clifford themselves, and see if they do have any issues.
I spoke to my ICE Alarm installer a few weeks ago, about this very thing, and he was resolute that there was no problem, and they'd fitted them to lots of Golf's and Audi TT's without any trouble.
The only issue they have with remote starts at the moment is with the new Scooby WRX, something strange with the way the ECU talks to the immobiliser, and they are a bit of nightmare to sort.
But no VAG issues to speak of, i even spoke to Clifford too, and they told me exactly the same thing.
I do air with the side of caution though, if remote start is useful then maybe its worth it, but if its not neccersary, which in my opinion i dont think it is, maybe its better just going for a Clifford 300 or 600, by the way is the CLifford 500 Thatcham approved cause last time i looked it wasnt, though it may have been classified now.
300 and 600 were the only 2 that had Thatcham approval.

Ive seen many audi's that have been broken into that the alarms did'nt even go off! There are ways of by-passing the alarm from the outside! without any keys etc!

Thanks for the advice! Remote start is just a gimmic but may cause problems with the immobiliser???
I think it would look good tho!

and if you didnt get the message: Clifford are shite .
I have had one clifford alarm once and guess what, it was shite, after 2 weeks the internal sensors stopped working, then 3 weeks after they did it againm, then the blasting thing started de arming itself and since this is linked to the centrol locking, not a good feature! Also my local alarm fitters used to do Clifford are shite alarms and they have said that for every 5 Clifford are shite alarms they fitted, 4 came back with some problem or other, mmmm, not very good if you ask me, and yes they were Clifford are shite trained and all that!
So as you can probobly tell i dont rate the Clifford are shite alarms at all.
STAY WELL CLEAR !!!

So do u like them or not!!! lol
I thought you got a lifetime warranty from them if things went wrong?
Did you have yours fitted from new or was it on the car when you bought it?
Sounds like That dealer is shite if you ask me. I e-mailed clifford and they said 90% of problems are caused by bad installations???
got a toad c5t2 myself and can recomend it ,does nearly all that the clifford does (ithink) £300 fitted by registered supplier.(and the siren is kiwi yellow)

the installer, (sextons) are one of the biggest around and believe me they know there stuff! Clifford can say that its down to bad installers but that then puts doubt on there training and certification that they give, does it not. I got the alarm fitted from new (not on my current car i might add) and even tho it does come with a warrenty, i dont expect to use it every god damn week.
Errgghh! how annoying. Anyway i have a new car and a new alarm now so im more than pleased. Sigma Cat 1. Works well for me. (and no problems whatso ever - touch wood!)
My Clifford works fine, im on my second had a Concept 50x in my Ibiza, did have the tendancy to not like heavy rain, as the glass tamper sensor was a bit over sensitive, but was easy to diable or adjust if needed.
My latest is in the Leon, and that's a Concept 300 G4, no trouble at all.
Both installations were done by the same fitter, but for different companies. Auto Audio in Manchester did my first, but when Phil & Neil left to setup SQ Plus, i took my business to them, but Craig still fits the alarms at SQ, he spent all day with my car, withit being a new model car when thye did it, he wanted to spend all day on it, checking it and ensuring nothing strange would happen.
I would say its down to fitter, ive heard other issues regarding Sextons, with faults not only on Clifford but other systems besides. Just cause you've got a good name doesnt make you a good fitter.
And training courses are only any good if the fitters pay attention, and are not afraid to phone back if they have a query, some places seem to think they are too good, to ask advice from the people that make the systems.
SQ+ are proven to be one of if not the best In car installers in the country with numerous awards, Phil is undoubatably one of the most knowledgable in the business.
Ive not had cause to complain, wish they were a bit cheaper though :D oh well you pay for quality :p

Ive had two alarms fitted at sextons, the current one (which is great) and the crappy clifford one. Anyway, not going to get into this "my fitters better than yours" argument. But lets face it, an alarm is an alarm, there all ment to do one job and stop the thieving basterds taking your motor. But if you want to pay 3 times as much as others for an alarm that does the same job as others, thats up to you!
I disagre on the whole Sextons thing, i think there great, very professional, well mannered and techy, and if there stuck, they will contact the manufacturers to ask whats the right way of doing it.
Anyway, you like clifford and i dont, lets leave it at that.:D

I've got a clifford concept 600 + remote start and haven't had any problems with the alarm itself. I had to get a new tilt motion sensor but that was due to water in the footwell getting inside it. It's the best alarm I've ever had and I've had toad, meta, and another one I can't remember... meta aquila was second best and it's cheap too...
