View Full Version : Another JABBA thread
Just wondering if anyone has had their Leon R Jabba'd?
Would love some feedback if possible re. power/torque figures etc.
Many thanks.
Ring Jabbasport - Mike said he'd already done one when i was there (he's done S3s too so plenty of knowledge) and he'll give you an estimate (every engine is different). I seem to remember him saying something like 270hp for the S3 engine was his best one. Worth remembering that's with 4wd tho :)

Been and had mine done today...
It was running low boost as standard!! that was corrected first and came in at 216bhp then it was remapped, to 275bhp/268lbft, using 1.3bar overboost, and then backing down to 1.2bar (I think). So many numbers said I forgot some. All with normal unleaded 95ron from Tesco.
Also had a go in the Ibiza, woooooooooooooo is all I can say.
Mine goes pretty well too, quite a change!
The thick lines are the new map, thinner ones the old
plot;
The fact that the car was running low boost to begin with makes you wonder if REVOs power claims are guaranteed.
Many thanks for the PM by the way, now I'm totally undecided again what to get. I'd go for JABBA if it weren't for the anti-theft and the 10 hour round trip.
REVO or JABBA? Daddy or chips?............

Dunno, after the first run after it was all plugged in Mike said it was a tame one. The boost was set too low that's all from factory I guess. Interesting the code had been moved, ie someone may have looked at it before. But it must have been before I had it. Maybe they fiddle at Seat Sport? Who knows, not worried, it's more than fine now!
Mike
How many miles has Your R done??
Any intercooler pipes blow off??
I am still not sure wither to go revo or Jabba!
What made you choose Jabba?
I was all booked in for jabba but my plans fell through and I got the revo demo for a fix! so I now what to expect!!!
Dosen't half test the brakes eh? :D

intercooler pipes? no, but Mike looked all over the engine at first to see if there was a reason the boost was low.
I went Jabba for a few reasons;
Very nice people
Custom job to MY engine. (I am restricted to 95ron)
I got to have a go in the 340bhp Ibiza
Crowland is a lovely little village, with a strange bridge?
oh and price.
I have 7600 miles on the clock now.
And no I do not have shares in a tyre company, but I am thinking about it.
Did mike drive your R?
What did he think off it?
Did he say if their would be more gains if running on optimax?

Yes he did drive it, as part of the job, and he said it performed and felt just like driving a chipped S3.
Didn't ask about the optimax, it's not going to happen as I am restricted to 95ron by my fuel card.
Might have been able to give it more overboost if I ran Optimax exclusively, too much boost on 95 and too much heat is generated possible valve seat burn and piston sag can occur, but that is all down to the breathing, bigger pipes and more power is possible.
Would I notice a difference? probably not, it goes like stink anyway!
Congrats m8, you made the right choice :)
Impressive figures from the Jabba-meister :D . I'm now sold on the Jabba route, just a simple matter of funding it  .

You're kidding mate, everyone knows your LOADED!!!
:p
I know that the boost is adjustable on the move with the Jabba chip & controller but does the ecu take time to adjust or is it instant?
Will constantly fiddling with the boost controller confuse it?
Does it do any harm if you adjust while the engine is under load? ie. thrashing the knackers off it (under controlled conditions, on a private road etc......)

It is adjustable real time.. under load or not..
ECU is unaffected, as boost controller does the actual work..
Its a nice simple fast...to faster adjustment knob :D
Bill
Yup can confirm what bill says - it's smooth as a babies in adjusting on-the-fly. Not that i ever turn mine down from "warp 11" you understand ;) Althought i can see it being well handy in snow and icy conditions...
Or when the mother-in-law is with you..

Surely you want to wind it right up then. Show her who's boss :D
I noticed on the Jabba website that the controller has a flick switch and the control knob. What does the switch do?

I think the pic might be out-of-date. I don't have a flip switch ;)
I think they do a switch type with set boost settings and the adjustable knob type, they had these available when I got mine last year.

I can vouch for that. Bill showed me it at Haynes. He even showed me how he can take it off completely and the re-insert it again.
And all with one hand.
Most impressive. ;)
Scott
Even without the boost controller visible I think people might get the idea Bill's car is a bit different if the drive it :p

Can someone take a photo of the boost controller removed, as I'm interested to see how 'stealthy' it looks when not in place.
Also, when the boost controller is removed, does it default back to the standard 156bhp? :dunno:

I should think that with the knob on the lowest position is going to give you standard boost level, and wind it up to 'enhanced boost' level. Simple as that.
