View Full Version : exhausts
so,what ya got?what ya recomend had supersprint and it was far too loud, want something that'll help the breathing but not deafen me.tail pipe design not really an issue, single round will do me fine:cheers:
Do the airbox mod (from the front page). It'll have better sound than any exhaust.
cheers sim ,thats in the pipe line.
btw you posted a mfa reset thingy for me ages ago can't seem to find the print out i did of it,have you still got it?the cars been serviced but they haven't reset the service intereval and is showing in 01 still.

I had a supersprint on mine and it wasn't very noisy at all... One tip though mate. Check that car to see what it has on it already, mine had a custom made jobby on it that had a larger bore CAT which the full system supersprint wouldn't fit on... So I only bothered changing the backbox...
Pete
Jason,
can't recall the procedure by now :\. Maybe you should do search on the net for "MFA reset" or "MFA tricks". Maybe Haynes covers it too.
Mmm, I've reset the service computer on mine twice now (when the servicing has been finished I hasten to add). It's a combination of things I can't quite remember. Playing about with buttons on the dashboard, but it's nothing to do with anything on the right stalk. If you get stuck, give us a shout. By the way, I know it's no bother at all, but it does clear the trip computer when you enter the service configurator.
As for exhausts, I had one fabricated to the car by Longlife. It's well over a year down the road now and it's still fine. The welds are not that great, but the steel is. They really shoved it out the way too just in case I lowered the car. Fitted price was cheaper than a mild steel original too.
It's not loud at all, just a nice note which almost disappears when cruising at 60. Open her up though it growls lovely! Tilting the sunroof helps your ears receive that gorgeous note too.
If you can't find the thread for the exhaust post I put on here detailing the system and stuff, give me a shout.
Have fun
cheers for the replies guys
sim:cannot find that print out anywhere, think i gave it the new owner of me ibiza in all the histiry i gave him:(
pete&chester:looks like if i have a larger cat i'll be going down the custom route not after a boomy note again but one that'll help with the slightly asthmatic breathing:cheers:

jase, think youve seen my dyno, my sportstek and piperx gave out an extra 7 brake over standard, no extra torque but it seems nice and smooth, that said my car will have a little different characteristics when she comes back from hospital. poor little thing..:(
How is the car Brendy? Haven't heard much news shortly after she tried to meet her maker. On course to getting her back soon I hope.

Nail Podfield's ;) car has been sort of running on throttle bodies for a while now - middle of 2002 from memory. In fact, now I come to think about it, Rally Super Car Day at Castle Combe was supposed to be its' first outing, but a certain tuner managed to break a few bits putting it back together. And then there was the problmes with the radiator not fitting. And then the throttle started sticking wide open. And then the clocks stopped working... Last I heard, the car had gone back in to have the electrics sorted that had been b*ggered in the process. So if we're talking about Alconbury in Novemeber 2002, yes, it was (sort of) running on bodies...
I can confirm neil's car was flying on throttlebodies last alconbury after having a couple sideways passenger laps! :D
I think Grunt motorsport are fixing his speedo and the like at the mo
