Hi all

Hope you can help, i have just got a Seat Ibiza TDI Sport 110 with about
10k on but the problem is the engine is really lumpy from 1k rpm to 2k, you
can hear the turbo starting to spin up but its up and down in tone not a
smooth tone getting higher resulting in un-smooth accelleration.

Some times its soo lumpy that it shakes the whole car, i have found one way
to cure it, if you put your foot flat down it will stop and go into a
smooth
whistle raising tone as it should do and stops being lumpy. It seems to
happen on anything less that full throttle, obviosuly i dont want to be
stamping on the throttle all the time as it uses more fuel.

I took it to seat to sort out and they said they couldnt replicate the
problem, but they did reset the accellerator program, and that the on board
computer wasnt reporting any faults.... but this didnt solve it.

any ideas?

Cheers

Stewart

Might sound stupid, but to me it sounds like your under reving the car in gear.

On Freds TDI forum they mentioned that the MAF might be dodgy, if i unplugged it and then drove would the car work ok?

From the little experience I have with MAF malfunctions, this could be true, but you'd notice the difference in performance at all levels. Your acceleration would be reduced to half of what is normal (sort of like running without a turbo).
