I didn't exactly jump at the chance to purchase the Grundig muti-changer and now have access to a cheap Sony unit.
Can anyone please tell me if the Sony CDX-601 is compatible? It's a 10 disc changer, so I imagine there may be some problems.
Would appreciate help from anyone who knows!
Thanks - and keep on truckin'
how cheap ? and does it need/have a converter ? i think it needs one ??
should be able to get the kit yaself for £200+vat (GENUINE)
easy to fit (guide coming soon)
only 6 disc standard mind
Flapper,
Any idea what model Grundig CD-Changers working in the Leon, only asking as I have an MCD-10 changer in the garage.
If it will work then I will have to see if it will fit the glovebox and try and make a cable for it.
Mark
mcd 10 is for the oldee stylee grundig 5201 rds , im afraid to say and won't fit in , cable or hole , to be honest the new style cd changer has no markings , even inside , but look, acts, and has same style 6 disc logo as a panasonic ?? , yet to be confirmed though as they are boxed VW and they have probably made a one off considering how many they have sold , i alone have sold 160 this year

Thanks Flapper... it's from a mate who has one at his Mitsubushi garage which has been classified as old stock and is not on the books any more. His boss only wants £50 for a brand new unit which I have seen for £150!!
That's why I need help! It won't have a conversion lead I'm sure so do you know who could be the best person / place to ask as to whether there is any chance that this will work?
I'm sure that others have fitted Sony changers or am I being deranged?
Cheers

I have the standard factory/dealer fit changer..
It is just boxed as VW indeed aiiii .. as flapper obviously would know and has stated.
I don't actually know who makes them? When others on here have said grundig for the changer are you meaning the VW dealer fit one? I didn't personally know Grundig made any decent HiFi equipment... :s
I have had no problems with the changer unit and I get a good quality of sound from it, as I expect it will have pretty much the same d/a converter that all manufacturers use nowadays..
They wanted to charge me a fortune for mine when I got the car, but I was selling them a very very low mileage Clio so they gave me the changer free and just stuck the extra cost on to the price of the clio to the next person who bought it..!! gutted for them.. :p lol
would like a unit that could hold more cd's though.. like 100..!! as I have loads of cd's and get fed up of changing them all the time and I don't like keeping more than the 6 that are in it inside the car, but will have to make do now, as it is already done n dusted.. n there are other things I would like to get for the car before a new changer.. :)

I was offered the standard Grundig unit for 'cost price' which was still over £200 - way too much I thought. But I am now well in the need for some cd action!
ps Scoobster, I've got some pictures somewhere of my black Cupra with the silver grille edging which I'll post v soon - see if you like!!

Ahhhhhhhhh.. Kewl..
Cheers fella.. would be mucho appreciado'd..
If it looks ok, and I feel it suits my car I might see if the dealer can get me one of those..
ta v muchly..
the main stereo head units are grundig in manufacture so thats the main reckoning behind the cd , like i say the 6 disc graphic looks very PANASONIC ??? if you want to check the connector , in the boot , ns wheel arch carpet , you will find a cross half way along , and 3 holes nearer to the seat back , from the cross , squeeze under the carpet , up towards the susp top , you will find the standard connector assy , as promised previously , a guide will soon be done , just need to get some time to spare

Cheers guys but I have found the info that I was looking for from www.connect2.co.uk (http://www.connects2.co.uk) as well as speaking to someone fromhttp://www.soundontop.co.uk
I can apparently link up the original head unit with a whole range of mulit-changers - just need the right connector according to whether cd / md etc. All codes etc are listed....
Also 10 disc should be fine but no selection capabiliities with discs 7-10, just will play straight through.
Next stop speakers....
