Just got another e-mail about this from Watchdog

4. Drive-by: Volkswagen Audi Group

Watchdog has found hundreds of thousands of cars from the Volkswagen Audi Group have potential engine problems.

What does Volkswagen have to say about it? Go to transport, click on VW Coils, link

Question is - what do SEAT have to say about it! My car has just broken down again this morning, and my wife had to be towed to the dealer by the AA. This is the second time a coil has blown, and I phoned the dealer to tell them they must replace them all this time, but they are still saying they can only replace the damaged coil. I find this unacceptable, and will be taking the issue up with SEAT customer care - obviously a very small dept! Will keep you posted on my feedback.

Seen this before rhumber, what a lot of people don't relise it is not just effecting Vag cars but also Renault,Citreon,Peugeot to name a few!
A mate of mine works at Renault and vertually 1 out of 2 cars that come in for warrenty work is for coil replacement!

Well - my car is now down at lookers Middlesbrough waiting for coils (again). I spoke to a very nice lady at SEAT customer care yesterday, and she has authorised the dealer to replace all the coils as this is my second failure in a month. I also suggested to her that SEAT should issue a statement regarding the coil issue, and she said that something was 'in the pipeline' regarding this. She intimated that SEAT intended to replace the coils on all affected vehicles eventually, but that supply problems meant that this was not possible just yet.

I must say that the recovery service etc. was excellent overall. My car was recovered within 30 mins, and my wife was back on the road in a hire car within a couple of hours of the breakdown. So - full marks to the AA, the dealership and SEAT customer care, but zero marks to SEAT UK for not publicising this problem to owners and not having a plan in place yet. If I had not been a member of this online community, I would have been totally unaware of this issue - and that is simply not good enough.

I just hope the coils arrive soon cos my wife says the Fiat Stylo she has now is not in the same league as the Cupra!

Stilo - yuck....

I was glad when my Stilo developed an 'airbag failure' error and had to go back, then I had a Astra with a 1.6 16v engine also, but it was far better than the crappy soggy gutless Stilo with a similar engine.

Well, the car is sorted. It was off the road only 48 hrs and now has 4 brand new J rev coils fitted - plus the technician gave me a spare to keep in the boot - just in case...... Overall, the service I received was very good, and I now hope all the coil probs are over.
