Is it true that TDIs dont need a cat for the MOT

I am looking to change the exuast for a power flow system and when i spoake to them they said i dont need the cat for the MOT is this true.

Soot (visible) is part of the Diesel emissions test as far as I remember...

Do they still rev it until it can't rev any more 3 times during this test?

Yes and i think this may be a prodlem with the revo chip aswell. As when it is on there is a bit of smoke.
