Right peeps i know this has been done by many and many Arosa/Lupo owners.
But i really wanna go Euro on my Arosa to as i can do all the paint and filler work myself as i'm a body repairer. Good thing it's only gonna cost me for the paint.
Can someone gather up some ideas/pictures for me?
What i have in mind is lower on coilovers, euro wheels and a nice exhaust. Smooth off all the existing bodywork and remove all the current knocks and scratches out of the car.
James
Hi James,
Are you after photo-shopped images, or pics of real cars online?
If the latter.. how about these...

where can i get the debadge grille from?
Arosa16vology
12-02-2008, 19:29
right i'm looking to get some Ronal Turbo wheels and coilover + the debadge grille. Going to leave the rear S Badge on the car and maybe the 16v badge.
have already removed the strips down both side of the car, with a heat gun.
Working out best way to smooth the bumpers.

Get them plastic welded - or alternatively see if Craig has any he is selling, I've lost track of which ones he is keeping and which ones are going!

*steps in with my big size 14's* ive got 2 sets of smoothed out bumpers , ive deffo got a spair rear bumper , fronts not to sure tbh.
the best way to do it is to cut them out , reses them and then plastic weld them back in and then some chemical weld to make sure , then all you need is a very thin skim of filler to finish it off . the half way line is a challenge . the front bumper on the back of it i have rivited the upper and lower half together to help keep it ridgid . then chemical weld down the line and a skim of filler .
heres the outcomes

cheers , the number of hours it took , cutting and plastic welding was shocking . im more gutted i had to sell the zenders cause im putting a 20vT in the arosa so the bigger brakes wouldnt fit behind them :( so soon it shall be an Arosa Cupra R

Right spent about 4hours or so in the workshop making a start on my front bumper.
Took me like 20/25 mins to work out where the screws was to remove the front bumper in the end i got there so wasn't too bad. Making sure i kept all the screws and bits in a mixing cup. (kept kicking it over lol)
Then got a air saw/blade cutter out and cut the section that needed to be out and welded back.
Once i got the sections out i got some 80grit sandpaper and remove the paint off the bit i'm gonna plastic weld to. The sections that i cut out i also grinded slight smaller.
Now i had to check on the back of the bumper to see what plastic rods i needed for this sort of plastic which was PP. Some plastic bumpers are made out of ABS plastic.
This bit took me ages needed 2 people to help me hold the piece in place whiles i tack it in place. One it's tacked i stared to plastic weld it all the way round making sure it was strong enough.
Whiles i was welding it i welded the two sections of the bumper together.
Below is some pictures of my bumper so far.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a274/c2ology2/P130208_155701.jpg
Whiles i was doing that got someone to remove my side bump strips with a hot air gun.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a274/c2ology2/P130208_155702.jpg
Next step is to fibreglass filler the section over then a fine layer of bodyfiller to smooth it off.
more updates coming soon.

if you plastic welded the rub strips back into the right position you shouldnt need fibre glass as its very brittle and would break , i plastic welded the rub strips in mine to just below the surface of the bumper so all it took as a thin skim of flexable filler to avoid using fibre glass

I want to fill in the air intake under the bottom part of the bumper what is the best way to do that?
or is it best to leave it open?
1litre wonder
14-02-2008, 13:39
plastic welding again . when you have the bumper off you will see on the bottom of the bumper there is like a flap that secures it onto the front pannel with wee poppers , if your careful you can remove some of that plastic and plastic weld that into the space as that way the plastics are the same type and will have hte same melting points etc
Arosa16vology
14-02-2008, 13:42
good thinking mate. i will do that.
1litre wonder
14-02-2008, 13:48
:cartman: i completely removed that platfrom when i made the arosa R style bumper and used that plastic if i needed to weld a plate in :cartman:
edit* that as well as its just the right thickness there that you can cut it with a pair of sharp siscors ( man mum was not happy when she got them back blunt :cartman: )
Arosa16vology
15-02-2008, 02:33
haha the sissors lol.
If i didn't wanna blunt the sissors reckon i can fibreglass tissue over the hole with resin then filler over top? sure that will be strong enough for that lil gap at the bottom?
When you plastic weld, what do you use?
Arosa16vology
15-02-2008, 23:59
When you plastic weld, what do you use?
heat gun that looks like a hair dryer and plastic rod.
1litre wonder
16-02-2008, 02:32
i used the ever faithful soldering iron with a wide tip on it . melted the plastic a dream and didnt burn it either :D anywhere that there wasnt enough plastic i just used a trim of spair plastic to fill it in
Arosa16vology
17-02-2008, 17:59
Fibreglass paste the gap and sanded it today. Will put filler on it tomorrow and sand it smooth with 180grit.

1litre wonder
19-02-2008, 16:04
nah , if your a good painter or know a good painter they will match the paint to the car a bit like B&Q mixing there own paint

love reading through these - cracking job - always liked the arosa 16v and the racer - tag on a red one at work when they first came out was my lucky number and was so close to buying @ the time - wish i had now
keep looking at the grilles and wondering if honeycomb would look better? would be more MY03 leon than Cupra R then though - look smooth though
wonder if the centre fits off the others? saying that horizontal or badgeless could be good too
anyone mind if i photoshop some of those pics ?

Hi all,
I'm new here so I may not be in the right thread with my query.
My Arosa is a metallic dark turquoise (on the paperwork the car is described as being 'blue'). I can't post a pic as for some reason I don't seem to be allowed to... :(
My 'Rosa has been scratched (superficial) over the years, and I'd like to paint over them... Does anyone know the paint code for this 'dark turquoise' colour?
Can anyone help? Lots of thanks in advance!

My Euro Project Arosa.
Thinking of selling the project at some point in 2010.
It's a MK2 2001 Y Reg 1.4 16v Sport Arosa.
Both front & rear bumper is smoothed, also down both side of the car.
Debadged front grille. (Still have original)
Standard Arosa Alloys Painted in Satin Black.
EBC Brakes All Round. (Disc & Pads)
Problem is not sure how much it worth now, cus i've modify it. Because not everyone is into the same thing.
Its tricky because there are very little engine modifications, alot of paint and smoothing but, its only worth what someone wants to give you for it and the added mileage. Toughy really, do a search online and see what they are going for.
