My Mk2 Ibiza Cupra 8VGti /sport whatever whatever..
Written off as Category 'C' after a shunt in the rear whilst sat at traffic lights.

Purchased for a steal back in autum/winter '06... sat looking very sorry for itself for a while due to having been Sorn by previous owner and kept as Sorn by me ( to enable me to get a few bits, get it through the VIC check etc)
http://i27.tinypic.com/arv5j.jpg
http://i28.tinypic.com/4v3kax.jpg

First major purchases wre the replacement tailgate (wrong colour, but a lot straighter than the original one ;)), slam panel etc and some replacement rear clusters due to the originals being smashed in the crash (cheers for the heads up, AndyJ)
http://i29.tinypic.com/2dc5ugn.jpg

Sat in this guise for a fair while whilst it was VIC'd then once done and MOT'd (failed only on front suspension mounts, suprisingly considering the smack in the back it had) it then had a bit of filler -work done to plump its ass back properly
http://i26.tinypic.com/258xymx.jpg
http://i31.tinypic.com/2eoy2p0.jpg
Once done, the red strip was sourced, and fitted over the summer, as was a few trips to various shows/meets etc.

finally , off it went to the Sprayers to have the rear end blown over, so ended up looking half decent by the end of summer..
http://i28.tinypic.com/ml5uon.jpg

Again, once winter was upon us and work took precidence, it sat, used possibly once a week if that to trundle to the shops..

Treated it to a set of White Powder-coated Estorils way back last year ,and finally today i got some rubber wrapped on them.
(have took these snaps just before sun down this evening with rims placed in front of existing ones)
http://i31.tinypic.com/11l3ex0.jpg
http://i28.tinypic.com/2jb4a6o.jpg

Will soon be lowered , have the rims changed over (scruffy **winter** rims on at present ) and have a fw more little touches done before (hopefully ) Pod in April (mot and tax up before then , and im away for just over three weeks prior to pod too, so time is an enemy at moment.

All in all , not a bad little motor for what its cost me :funk:

hopefully will look good later in the year when its decked, polished and has a few more little ideas I have done to it ;), but its getting there..

Brummy
26-02-2008, 18:35
quick teaser... stuck the rims on today just to see what they actually look like .. I know the car needs decking, but after the kerfuffle with the garage this morning and throwing the rest of the day into disarray, I finally got 1/2 hour or so to myself so decided to play cars ;)
only one piccy unfortunately and not the best either, but the battery went just as I took it, so..

just looked out of the window at it... *I know :(* .. and they're growing on me.. just needs its ass dropping to the floor now ..gonna see if I can get it mot'd next week (fingers crossed it will pass) then that gives me a bit of breathing space to get it decked before I go away in three weeks...if that falls through.. it looks like pod might be done in a crappy Mk4

wouldnt know truth be told, had 'em ages but kept them off the car during winter, only really fitted them today as I had a crappy day and decided to spend some time on the car. shouldnt be any worse than my old multispokes were

sweet, nice to see a car fixed, just think the poor lil thing would be a lonly cube in a scrap yard by now but there she is all green and shiny!

Brummy
26-02-2008, 20:42
fixed , but on the way to being pampered Aimez... still a fair few plans for it, just a bugger timewise for Pod, but if it doesnt happen for Pod, then it'll just be postponed for later.. but it will happen
;)

Aimez
26-02-2008, 20:50
yeh don't rush it i know most people are in a hurry to get there cars sorted for various shows in the Summer and end up spending too much. Taking me forever to buy car parts as I have a crap wage but it makes it more worthwhile as you look forward to it more.

Brummy
26-02-2008, 20:54
aye, next on the list (after the dreaded mot) is lowering.. have plans afoot for the kit already, spacers for the rear rims just to sit the thing right, the rest then is pretty much cosmetic. have a few little touches in there already , such as the late Polo clear repeaters, but have a few little ideas that remain pretty much on the drawing board at mo..
:)

I have to disagree there:blink: dont think they would suit the car,
Some people manage to pull the euro style headlights off but to be honest it would spoil the look of the car in my opinion.

Actually , Dave almost made a right mess, the car was lifted on its scissor jack, then sat on adjustable axle stands.. wheel off , old back section off..then all back on, just lowering everything back to Terra Firma and one of the axle stands slipped and dug into the tarmac on the drive!! whooops! bit of a moment . Had to grab a botle jack, re-lift the car and then remove the axle stand, then reposition the scissor jack and remove the bottle jack.

* makes mental note, Really need to get a proper trolly jack.*

Excellent work :D

My Leon 1.8t Sport was a Cat C, and I myself am in the process of repairing it. It had a offside (drivers) corner collision which bent the wheel inwards slightly. Had a new wishbone, tie rod end, tracking rod fitted so far. I've also bought a new 19" RS4 alloy to replace the wheel that was on there as it was mashed badly. The wheel still sits slightly inwards so going to collect a new hub tomorrow and get it fitted :) The front bumper had big cuts in it but I've managed to remove it, filler the gaps, smoothed it off, and going to spray it soon. The panel was also bent but Ive managed to put it back into shape and it now looks spotless. The intercooler casing had been cracked so I've repaired it and it works great.

So remember that for when I post pictures and see if you can tell it's been damaged :D

found this piccy on my lappy tonight too.. I kinda like it as it reminds me of the old tractor stance from that angle..

....So today it began....

shoe shopping ;) my hand was kinda forced by having as near as dammit slicks on the front (they were right on the depth indicators) so rather than just buy a new pair for up front, I thought what the hell and decided to get them put on the (new) rims..so off to the Local Wheelmania, and a pair of new shoes were purchased and a deal was struck to have the rears shifted from the 'Rils to the BBS's..

I quite like them already which is unusual, it normally takes a while for me to like any rims on my car for some reason.

and also a beesting aerial, so it doesnt look like a bumper-car now.. (why do they have to fit those mahoosive aerials?) .. i never listen to the radio anyway, even though its a Dab unit  so the little aerial will do

Love threads like this. Can I ask though what you had to do to get the area around the boot catch looking straight again and the bit behind the slam panel? Any specialist tools to straighten these out or just a whack and plenty time smoothing with filler?

Cheers

Brummy

A size eight, plenty of persuasion and a lot of luck to be honest, the only filler that was used was on the small panels, the O/S one being the worst of the two. the inner boot is still a little scarred, but its not like its showing and the carpets/trim hide most of it. Thanfully the original crash bar and the spare wheel had taken up a lot of the force on impact, which made saving it a lot easier.. I did look down the route of jigging , but the cost was prohibitive (most probably one of the reasons for the write-off in the first place).

BBS for me, should just be kept all silver with a polished rim as the black centres make them look too small, as general rule is if you have black centres with a polished or different colour lip is you always have to go one size bigger

Yes Ant, soured a little though by the fact a biker that went through the gate at the same time as us was in a very bad way (if not already gone) as we went round.

but I've lost my 'ring virginity now (oooo-eer!!, that sounds soooo wrong), can officially put the sticker on the car. Saw Tris and Ben in the carpark just outside the gate as we came out, had a little chat and then had to make our start on the epic road trip home through four European countries before hitting home soil.

He almost bought it on the trip , Ant.. car was sitting that low due to the extra weight of three blokes, booze, food , clothes and camping gear etc that hes now lost a chunk of his rear (as well as the previous injuries of losing a hand and a foot)

Suj, its getting there slowly on the cleaned look.. going to re-vinyl the roof before spring, leaving the aerial off methinks , I dont use the radio so its of no consequence, the door handles have been swapped for keyless ones, rear lid is dewipered will get a set of smother front wipers
really need it sitting a bit lower too so will be scouring about for something to that end..

Ive already done the Flouro look on a set of rims i had for a while last year. the car wore them to Gti Inters (should be on the inters thread or poss pics of them in a thread about flouro rims myself and fl@pper had ) then they were taken off and sold.
the Borbets I have are 'A's still in a fifteen flavour , and the bbs Ra's may well be gone at some point springtime once Ive 'furbed the others .

OllieL
04-01-2010, 03:14
Camo Wheel Wrap hmmmm

What about a cream colour or Anthracite??

Or what about polished (cheap around us, and not seen polished ronals before)

Also seen a crazy camper on some d90's that had an interesting multi colored pattern that could be done with graffiti paint.

White with a blue or green (colour coded) pin stripe along each spoke from the centre to the lip?

White, with net curtain spray job over the top?

Also give me a shout about there before you get rid, might well have them off you (to join the other 6 sets of wheels I have now accumulated)

I know you change your wheels on a whim which is why it works! As I said, one set shown on the roof and a DIFFERENT set on the car.

If you're that worried about the cost sell a set of wheels ;)

Ra's Sam... the ones with the black centres (original , not sprayed up as an afterthought) some fetch ridiculous prices on the bay or over on Edition.
Paul, Orange is something Im contamplating for the set of GTi rims Ive recently obtained, the Borbets will be , well.. time will tell
:D

ever thought about getting a wheel*****s.com sticker;)

Boo.. they are up for sale.. hopefully be gone fairly soon.
yes, Im going for the green/White theme (think I miss that clean/fresh look from my Estorils a couple of years ago )

Suj, a fair bit o overblow (for want of a better word) on the lips/edges, but ive got the one looking reasonable now, so the others should follow suit.. my cars never going to be S&S /concourse ready, its a user/abuser, so as long as they look reasonably good, I'll be happy

:D

Ha yeah sorry think I was having a shocker.
Cov this week then?????

Went to get my wheels and there were imperfections in 2 of the faces and 1 of the lips.
Needless to say they are being done again - bloke was fine about it though, said it was no trouble etc etc
Said I could get them in the morning, though I wont be able to till Thursday morning

Get some pics of these here rims and the 'over spray' then
