Went in yesterday morning bright and early to leave my car for its service. I had to get back home quickly so I didnt mess about, no chatting or looking round the show room, just waited for my courtasy car to be brought round to the front. As soon as it was brought round the bloke said it was here, gave me some keys and said its parked on the road. I went out and it was just a plain Punto. I was a little disappointed as I should have had an upgraded car but like I said I was in a hurry so just got in and went home, the car had no petrol in at all so I had to call to the petrol station.
I got home and within a few hours got a call to say it was ready and to come and pick it up.
I got there and the bloke said there is nothing to report, here are your pieces of paperwork etc. That will be £168 please. Now I had a problem before with my reg not being on the database and explained that my car was a 57 Reg FR and that it qualified for the cheaper rates of £128. He looked back on the system and said sorry your correct, your car just qualifies for the new rates and proceeded to produce a new bill. Its a bit cheaper than you though at £118.90 he said so I thought bonus, and an extra £11.89 off with my discount card comes in at a very reasonable cost. Not messing about I got my card out and paid on switch, got my papers and was on my way in my sparkling yellow FR which was cleaned lovely. It wasnt until I got home that I saw I had actually been charged the £118.90 for the service without my discount taken off. For the sake of just over a tenner I wasnt going to mess around going back down to the dealers to sort this out as I was in for a hectic day.
All in all with my discount card I didnt get anything over and above what anyone else would get. Bit disappointing like I said. Ill just have to make sure im more carefull booking it in nextime.
Other than that it was a pleasing service

Morning Nobba

Thanks for the feed back, you are right in saying that for some reason your car is not recognised on the SEAT menu pricing.
What normally happens is that we input the reg number and it shows what service schedule it is on ie pre 08 model or 07 model. When we put yours in it shows blank!!!
I have checked what we charged you and we have applied the 10% discount off the parts, oils, labour and vat.
The full price for a 08 model first service is £128.00 we then apply the discount, this has taken the price down to £118, if you look at your invoice you will see that the parts prices on the right is 10% less than the list price on the left. The labour charge has also had 10% discount applied.
I hope you feel that we represent good value, I know that the Autoworld SEAT price for the same service is £180.00!!!
As for the car Im not sure if you mentioned an upgraded car when you booked in, it is always best to do so. These are not the normal service loan cars and the sales department have to allocate them.
Regardless hope you appreciate that we provide the cars free of charge including insurance, again most dealers charge £10 to cover you on insurance.
Glad you found overall that it was a pleasing experience and that your car was cleaned lovely.

Regards & thanks for the business

I was going to say it sounds like the discount has been applied already... but this has been nicely explained above.

im unsure how 10% off £128 is £118.90 though... even doing the maths in my head i know its less than £118.90.
Perhaps there is something in the service that the 10% is not applied to? (other than parts, oil, labour and vat?)

(£128 less 10% is £115.20... ???)

Hi Andy

When a SCN member applies for a card a customer account is created, behind this customer account is a account code that automatically generates 10% off the labour, parts & oils etc. This ensures that when the invoice is generated it is automatically applied.
I think the 2 or 3 quid is probably due to consumables but I need to look into in further.

Nigel,
I think this is where my confusion that the discount wasnt taken came from. Like Andy said £128 less 10% is £115 but if its not on consumables then this explains a few things.
I asked if I needed to show my card but was told no cause it was on the system already.
Like I said the service was spot on apart from the few niggly bit which have been explained well. I hope this thread will help others when they come in for their service to understand the process.
After reading the title of the thread again it sound less than flattering to Ted J so ill amend this. It wasnt intentional.

Just a quick message to readers.

I purchased my 57FR Leon from Seat Autoworld and they wanted £200 for the first service. Went to Ten Johnson this morning and was well looked after, with a loan car and coffee, a text message and car clean when complete, a smile from all the staff and a price under £120.

Mint.

I know this is old now but for the record the couple of quid difference is likely to be the VAT - you would get discount before VAT. The £128 includes VAT, so taking 10% of that price is a higher amount than taking 10% off before VAT is applied
