View Full Version : TDI V6 - 4 Motion
I spotted the Passat attached whilst I was in France.
Why do Seat not have this in a Leon or Toldeo?
Now I would love one of them!
I'm not even sure if the V6 would fit in the toledo/leon. As far as I know it's only available on the bigger cars: passat, A4,A6.....
Maybe they perceive a small and unprofitable market for a V6 and/or 4WD.
A V6 typically lifts prestige and image of a range eg Audi TT to make it a real Boxster competitor, Mondeo 6-cyl so it is on a more equal prestige/image footing as A4/3-series.
I'm not sure a Toledo could compete with A4, 3-series etc.
So it would fit in the Toldeo then ? :confused:
Dunno if that V6 would but they shoehorned one into the Golf platform for Golf and TT (narrow angle petrol though and a development of the old VR6 which fit in Golf3 ok).
The VR6 engine uses a very tight angle. If i'm not mistaken it uses a 1 piece head instead 2. The V6 tdi engine is much larger. I've seen a couple and dought they would fit in the leon/toledo front.

i saw one 3 weeks ago in silver, and it looked brilliant, obviously a well sorted kit on it with great alloys too, i had to and check the rear badge to see what it was and make sure.
Very nice looking car, just too big for my liking

the thing is the passat is based on the audi A4/A6 chassis and has engines that run front to back. were the golf based products leon/toledo inc have engines that are mounted left to right. ie 90 degrees different so theres not the room.

Also the 4WD system in the passat is the audi quattro system not the VW syncro/4 motion system in the golfs/leon/A3.
now there is rumours of a V5 175bhp TDI but god knows when seat will get it.

It's a 2.0l 16V 4 banger not a V5. It's coming out in 2 versions
140hp (on the new A3 this summer) & 175hp

Maybe, just maybe that's what will be in the Barcelona ' new Leon Cupra R ' a diesel 175bhp model :D
Nah ~ they wouldn't want it to embarress the weedy petrol version ;)

known about that 4 pot, have for over a year BUT theres talk of a 5 pot TDI now to take on the 5 pot fiat/GM/Vauxhall TDI thats coming out soon.

There is also a V5 TDi planned, I have read it...

Saw another one last night and it didn't look nearly as good, so the first one must have had a very nice VW body kit.

I actually don't see that many passats cus for the price people usually end up buying the A4. Still a nice car though.
