Ive been given for want of a better word a 1.8 16v golf mark 2 and am considering replacing my 1.4 engine with the engine from it.

I have two mates of mine who both have engine conversions themselves and have offered to do the swop for me for just the cost of reconin the engine. Which seems like a good deal!

I was wondering if anyone knows of any problems I would have in fitting this setup? anyone done it beofre?

I can also get a set of Corrado G60 brakes, does anyone know if these would fit on okay?

Any help would be appreciated as having taken a quick look over the engines, it seems engine mounts look much the same, but dont know about driveshafts etc...

Thanks

dunno bout g60 brakes, but vr6 brakes go on with relatively little hassle , bloke did it to his cupra and hopefully i will get to see the results soon. vr6 brakes are 280 mm discs btw

vr6 are actually 288mm and have bigger pad/disc surface area. on 280 mm discs the pads will overlap. 288mm vrs discs are only 5 bolt so will not fit 1.4. get new caliper carriers and a set of 280 mm discs and all will fit lovely if u have big wheels. g60 i think take thicker pads and are 24mm thick discs whereas seats are 22mm.
