View Full Version : Lowering Options
Has anybody got any experience lowering a Beezer Cupra with anything other than the PSS9 kit? I like the PSS9 kit alot, but can't really justify the £1000 (and would I really adjust it? , probably keep it at my preferred height).
I know that Billstein also have a fixed lowering kit for about £500, but the standard SEAT shocks seem nicely damped to me and surely a set of lowering springs would do a good job.
If it comes to it I will probably buy the PSS9 kit, but I hope someone can give some feedback/experience as to what spring kits are availbale and what to look out for (i.e. How low to go)
Is the PSS9 kit really worth it Bill ?

As a start, my use includes the occasional track day/sprint, so I wanted a fully adjustable setup to live with the increased performance (er hmm!)
If you want to have an improved suspension generally, I would start with some springs (Eibach or H&R) and see how they work with the stock shocks. Springs would cost between £120-£150 so would'nt break the bank like PSS kits.
Bilstein Sprint line kits, or the dampers alone, would be £330 approx. Non adjustable, but engineered and reliable.
To answer your question are the PSS9's worth it - I would have to answer probably no if you just want a good kit. They are overpriced, but a quality product.

Bill
I'm also walking in the same shoes. I can't (more precisely don't want to and won't) afford a PSS9, as i think i don't really need it. I will just get a set of eibach lowering springs (~40mm) until the standard (but new) shocks are working/holding up.
if it helps to compare prices to the others
SEAT SPORT do a kit (eibach springs , bilstein dampers) £499.99 inc vat + fitting

Flapper, do they do a kit for the Leon Cupra as I would like to sort out the handling on mine. If one is available can you also please tell me how much it lowers the car.

Steve
HI !
Well, that's our point of view, here in Switzerland...
But my prep., has tried like 4 kits of lowering, including billstein, and he sais... the best kit is definetely KW's one..
have a look here : KW (http://www.kw-gmbh.de/e_version/index.htm)
there are I think a bit expensivier than billstein, but are the best one you can get for your '00 beeza...
I'll put them as soon as winter finishes over here...

How much better is the Seat Sport kit against the standard 1.8T Ibiza set-up, I would like to damp better but not necessarily lower, the roads are a bit bumpy around here!
