View Full Version : Leon tailgate interior trim + EKTA

An unfortunate incident with a pressure washer today has led to a 1" circular dent on my tailgate :( . I'll probably use a local paintless dent removal company, but the tailgate interior trim needs to be removed before the repair can be made.

Having read previous threads I understand the trim is difficult to remove. Can someone provide me with a blow-up EKTA diagram showing how the trim is fixed and therefore removed please? Forewarned is forearmed I guess.

Thanks in advance.

How did you manage that? Must have been a lot of pressure?

BUT

Damn those clips are in tight :(

best way is to lever any you can see first

Thanks for the info Daz, much appreciated :) . THB I'd prefer to remove the trim myself, it's easier to accept breakages when you do it yourself rather than paying someone else to break it...

How did you manage that? Must have been a lot of pressure?
As I turned the lance to reduce the pressure from high to low, I'd actually loosened it on the handle, so as I squeezed the trigger the damn thing was projected at 120psi into my tailgate. A ****ing stupid thing to do but I didn't realise it had come away. NOT A HAPPY BUNNY  , but falls in line with most things I seem to do  :dope:

ooooops :(

Can't help you mate, but did something similar on my old ZX Volcane at a jet wash ~ smacked the end of the jetwash "lance" into the door and dented it, then ripped off the rear wiper (which I'd replaced 2weeks earlier) with the hose.

Goddamn are these clips tight  . I've successfully removed the tailgate trim after a fight and only broke 3 clips from eight  . I might be able to get away with bonding them back on, they're only there to position and hold the trim in place, no integral strength needed really. I'll also make enquiries as to prices for a new panel - if it's a common breakage, it might be cheaper than buying some decent glue!

The car goes to www.dentdevils.com tomorrow. I'm expecting it to cost me the thick-end of £100 :( . I'll let you know how I got on.

Thanks for all the advice Daz, it's easier tackling a job when you know what to expect. Thanks too for the heads-up on the part number, I'll get on the case tomorrow.

Back to the dent and....it's gone! :D Truely amazing. You can read all about it on the 'net, but you don't fully appreciate the work until you've experienced it. I wasn't able to see how they removed the dent, but they did the job while I waited, about 45mins. Cost = £75 inc vat. Perhaps a little on the pricey side, but no matter because Dent Devils (http://www.dentdevils.com) have done a top-notch job :D . I'll be more careful with the Karcher in future...
