had a bit of a wobbly pulling away from the lights in first turning right, had to put my foot down to get round the lights and found myself going a complete and utter different direction to where I wanted to go.

To say the least in busy traffic, it s**t me up. Has anyone else found this a problem?.

Also with the Revo upgrade does this "feature" become more apparent.

cheers

Even as ruler of torquesville I have never noticed torque steer to any great degree. I get a lot of wheel spin but it stays going in the direction I point it.

Sounds to me like what your were experiencing was the front end washing out. This isn't torque steer, more if you boot it hard while attempting to turn a corner the car just goes straight on irrelavent of what you do with the steering until you ease off the throttle. Mine suffers from this quite badly in the wet if I try to accelerate too hard while not going in a straight line.

I also suffer from torque steer and haven't even got mine Revo'd yet! It’s especially bad if the road is at all uneven/different cambers, like quite a few of the lanes around here in Bucks. Not sure if its just the stock suspension being crap or what. I’ve got decent even tread on all my tyres and checked all the pressures the other night. Is this a common 'characteristic' of the Ibiza Cupra? What can help it out? My mate has just brought a 1.8T Golf Gti and its solid as, with no torque steer.

Any thoughts appreciated...

Could be ruts in the road and/or camber as Mark Suggested.

There is a stretch or road near me which has some bad camber and ridges in it - I usually boot it along there to get a workout - the steering wheel really squirms.

Or could be wash out as Cupramax suggested.

Had that happen to me once, right hander slightly damp, booted mid bend (silly me) and the car wanted to go staight on - half throttle car came back - normal service resumed.

I agree with some of the earlier posts.

Like Rage I had no torque steer with my Revo'd Ibiza. Lowering helps if you do have it - problems come from the inner ends on the driveshafts being higher than the centre of the hubs IIRC.

What you describe doesn't sound like torque steer to me, though - you'll know it if it happens because the wheel tugs one way then the other in your hands under acceleration. If you want to feel it then come and take my old Alfa 164 away (please) 'cos it does it in any gear and can veer across half a lane in the lower ones.

Wasnt front wash out, basically took the corner accelerating and went right but when tried to straighten steering wheel all manner of things happened.

Used to front wheel spin but this was nothing like it was definately torque steer, I will have a walk down and check out the condition of the road.

Thanks for all your input! :)

I guess another flavour of torque steer is when the car tries to wind on more lock rather than self-centre. That sounds like maybe what you had. Could be a function of the diff?

Any car putting out such large tourque figures will suffer from tourque steer.

But 9/10 u won't really notice it, as many have said it was probly the camber in the road, or maybe the fact u relaxed ur grip on the steering.

I've had mine revo'ed for a while now, and tbh there's no harsh-ness to it at all, although there has been the odd ocasion where i have experienced torque steer, but i put it down to the camber of the road, or if its wet.

Also remember putting on bigger wheels and tyres, makes them pick up the road surface more, and at times on an uneven road, it can feel like the steerings been pulled all over the place.

sort of off topic : did they ever bother to sort the focus RS out, as it realy suffers on uneven roads :laff1:

p.s a little test u can do to see how bad the torque steer is on ur car, in an OPEN SPACE take ur hand off the steering, select first gear, and nale it, and see how much it goes to the left, if the car makes a sharp vear to the left, u got bad torque steer, if u say in a straight line u have a puny engine lol.
