View Full Version : Many Revo questions - please have patience :)
..had this little lot on my mind for a while :)
1) After switching to performance program the car feels quick as a quick thing, but after an hour or so of driving it seems to lose it's 'edge'. Is this normal? Struggled to pull away from a mate's PuntoGT at the weekend, most embarassing lol
2) What's the best place to change gear with the Revo? On my VTS it was simple, change at 7k in every gear, what are the prime revs to look for on the Cupra to make rapid progress?
3) Are the Forge DV007 recirc DVs silent? Or can you hear a slight whoosh as you change gear? I have a nagging doubt as to whether or not Regal actually fitted the DV I asked for and it could be related to number 1.
4) Does having traction control on affect performance? Or is it strictly only for when wheelspin creeps in and power is restored immediately?
Thanks in advance!

1) yes, Its Called Getting used to it!!! Hence the reason for getting the chip in the first place :D :D On a more serious note, its probably due to increased intake/charge temps as they can rise by more than 40% on a chipped car compared to a standard car. This is because the Intercooler's are not adequate with the extra power to the ECU tends to hold back the power until it's cool. thats why u may find its quicker first thing in the morning especially when its colder outside.
2) best place to change gear is about 5000-5500rpm as this is the point where boost starts to tail off. If you get a boost gauge you will see this! So by changing here you are constantly having full boost through all the gears.
3) In my opinion I cant notice any difference in the Forge DV noise wise. To do a check open the bonnet and look straight at the back of the cover and you should see a Silver metal valve (see pic attached) Yours may be black depending on what you/they ordered. But s standard one is Plastic and alot smaller forge one is Metal and usually polished and alot bigger. Always at the back of the cover in the middle with 2 large pipes coming off (1 to the side and 1 underneath) and a small one off the top.
4) yes traction control does affect performance as i found it comes in alot even if its only for a split second Noticed it especially when giving it Patsy on corners. Turn it off and enjoy extra power but... be careful as i found it a bit scary on cornering as the wheels want to light up with revo, especially if u r used to leaving it on!!!!
Hope this helps
p.s. any1 feel free to correct me if im wrong!! :p

1) I was afraid of that :D Is there an effective intercooler upgrade available?
2) Boost gauge on my list!
3) Hmmmmm, std was silent - wonder if mine has a leak or isn't the DV I asked for. Do Forge do a non-recirc type?
4) Off it goes then, I'm a touch careful still on corners anyway.
Cheers!

1) Forge IC £400 only off the shelf one available, replaces existing one with no mods required. Revo's Ibiza Seen approx 10bhp and sustained boosts levels and lower temps than stock one.
2) deffo get 1 u wont regret it.
3) no, non-recirc dont work on ibiza's. It may make a slight noise, varies from car to car and valve to valve.
4) hehehehe :p
...you got any pics of your gauges? Where did you mount them? Where from? Easy to fit? etc etc.. :)

SEATCUpra.net Intercooler Review (http://www.seatcupra.net/reviews.php?descrip=Forge Side Mount Intercooler)
Thats for the Leon, shag ;) But similar kind of benefits on the Ibiza one.
Yeah, thats what I was getting at.
I guess the Leon Cupras R Twin Coolers will suffice?.
Getting my 5 hour demo very soon so will see the difference in power.

boost pod (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=166715)
oil temp oil pressure (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=166714)
Sorry for the poor quality pics. got the gauges from Apex performance they are autometer ultra lite, white face, red needle and red backlight as stock. All fairly easy to hook up. All spares are available from seat i.e. oil temp sender, facia plate for console etc etc.. Got pillar pod from nomad Racing, whole new trim including mount. Very good match and quality but £70 though (they got a template to make more)
