Engine staling

hello ppl,

Major prob with '96 plate 1400 injection.
When dropping down a gear from 4th into 3rd, the engine cuts off as the clutch is pressed and will re-start when clutch is lifted.

I'm guessing it may be the battery or alternator on its way out.
Anyone eperienced this prob before????
Or anyone have any ideas???

Why do you think its power related? Do you also get dim lights when the engines on idle at night?

How odd,

The engine should be decoupled and should run freely when thec lutch is disengauged anyway....

If your gear changes are vanywhere as rapid as my over enthusiatic ones can be then i wouldn't have though the engine would have a chance to die and start again.
