This is my first post so be gentle!!

I have only had my R for 2 weeks now and it is by far the coolest thing ever made :D :D

From reading the Revo links i have decided to have the SPS3 conversion done, but i am nervous about the extra stresses on the ehgine.

Has anybody had any engine/gearbox related problems after the conversion was done. I cant believe that there are no other engine mods needed to accept another 70BHP!!

Any response would be great.

Brad:cheers:

If you are worried why not just go for the SPS1 so you can't alter the settings ... not as if the power isn't enough anyway!! :D

From what I know/heard these engines are pretty reliable and strong.

Hey Brad, welcome to the forums :)

Dont worry about stresses on the engine.

The 1.8T is a tough block, built to withstand mucho power, race versions of this engine have seen 500BHP (albeit with improved internals and a big budget)

The chip upgrades available for the 1.8t on the most part are only maximising the potentail of the engine, VAG use this engine in many different guises and horsepower variants and many people push 300BHP+ on standard internals with no problems whatsoever.

I personally have not heard of 1 1.8T lunching an engine or gearbox, obviously your clutch will die with 5k RPM dumps from the traffic lights, everything else will be A OK.

No, mines on the standard FPR, theres no 4 bar program for the "R" as yet although I am running the agressive timing and high boost program. Basically higher fuel pressure = more fuel delivered per injector cycle = more power. Mines recorded 282hp once on a rolling road, thats quite enough for me :D

lets put it this way i work at the dealership, and they are VERY strong engines that have VERY few problems relating to power stress as in i cant recal seeing a problems
