View Full Version : Ryland Seat, Cardiff

Having recently purchased my MY01 Leon Cupra, I took it to my local dealer - Ryland, Cardiff - to query a problem with the rubber seal on the front passenger door, as it is starting to pull away from the pillar.

I was a bit dubious as Ryland don't appear to have the best reputation amongst users of this site. Anyway, Ryland have ordered a new seal which is being fitted next week. I also mentioned the now notorious leaking doors problem, as although work has already been carried out by this dealer (replacement of seals on all 4 doors), water is still appearing when it rains on 2 out of 4 doors.

Initial impressions are OK, (well the staff seemed fairly helpful) but heh, no work has been done as yet.

I'll let you know how I get on... :( / :)

Found service slow and not very helpful (no courtesy casr or attempt to help especially as it was ovr xmas) no updates on progress, first thing i was asked was how are u going to pay when 30 secs earlier i said it was still in warranty and was told by seat uk it was covered and she said "are u sure??" "No Love Im lying!!!" FFS!!! The she said that they would let me know if its covred under warranty as if i was lying!. I think cause they are a rover garage too they dont give a toss about seat!!!

Well, I have had the warranty work completed by Ryland in Cardiff, and my overall impression of the garage is not good.

The organisation is poor. So far I've had the wrong part ordered, a seal fault incorrectly diagnosed and my car was in the garage for 3 days to have 1 seal fitted.

I am now thinking about going elsewhere for my 30k service. The trouble is, there aren't that many alternatives around South Wales , as most of the dealerships in this area seem to have had poor reviews....

hello, jez, New to the forums??? You should pop to the combined local meet's every mth for us and SE, good bunch of lads, and a few of us are going to the SWCC Showdown in landough sat 21st 0-60 day should be a laugh! Meeting in culver house cross MC'D's 9am.

Most of us now go to caldicot Seat just outside Newport. I first went there when purchasing my seat and recomeneded a few other ppl to go there and they all come back with the same reply, helpful, friendly and knowledgable. They are the type of guys that will call if they say they will call and cant do enough for u highly recomended! I think the main reason is that they are seat only where as Ryland is Rover too and snuff their nose up at Seats!

Thanks for the recommendation about the SEAT dealer in Caldicot. I looked at an ovni yellow Cupra in that garage when I was buying mine, but the salesman couldn't give me the deal I was looking for.

But if they have a good reputation for servicing, I might give them a go for my 30k. It would be really handy for me as well, as I only work a few miles from there....

Well I can recommend the dealers at Caldicott ("Thompson and Thompson").

Phone number is 01291 424500 if you're interested.

Coil pack went for the third time last night, and it had to be towed to T&T. Was due to take the car to France on Saturday (Tickets booked with car reg on them), I explained this to them this morning, and even though their garage was booked up solid all day, they still managed to get my car done by lunch time.

Top marks! They always wash the car for you too pretty well - including a decent job on the wheels!

Stevo.

Rich,

I have had four services with FRF Swansea. Initially they were great but nagging issues with the quality of their work and warranty repairs have lead to me use Garej Raymond in Crosshands (who so far have been great).

See my posts in this forum for more details on South Wales SEAT dealers.

Cheers,
