I think it's got brake assist.
Wait till no-one's around you, then quickly lift your foot off accelerator and onto brake, as if in a real emergency. I think brake assist works by detecting the pattern of sudden move from accelerator to brake, and applies max brake pressure. Presumably this is because some people panic and lift off when they feel the ABS pulsing - brake assist keeps the brakes on for you.
I tried it, and it the brakes certainly seemed to grab instantly really hard.
Anyone else tried this ?
Since it seems to have the most hyper-active ABS on the planet it seems irrelevant whether it assists you in triggering it or not.
For me the single negative point on the whole car was that too many times when braking slowing down was replaced with ABS pedal-patter and constant speed, especially in the wet.

Deffo agree with Fen. Seat need to tune down the ABS a bit. Even under normal (not sprinted) driving the thing just starts working.

can this be adjusted via VAG-COM ? not into V/C ---yet!!

Cheers, totally agree about the ABS, its especially bad if you are braking and hit some sharp bumps/ridges. Cause of the low profile tyres and stiff springs it triggers the ABS even at quite low speeds and it take a second or two for it to realise and start normal braking. Fecking ABS casue me to smack a lampost a few months ago in the snow, i am sure i could have stopped without it. There should be a switch to turn it off.
To be honest i thought the brakes would be better, nothing like as good as the cupra Rs, mind you i try not to use them, i tend to find they slow you down a bit.... ;)
Pull the ABS fuse if it really bothers you. It will probably cause a fault code though. I've been toying with the idea of doing this when it gets wet outside. I approached a junction today and nearly overshot into the main road thanks to the ABS kicking in un-needed.

I can't say I've noticed the ABS kicking in on mine ?
I find this quite surprising given the number of people who've commented on it. (It did kick in when I tried the EBA out though)
Does anyone know if switching off ESP switches off ABS as well ?
You lot have never driven Citroens before!? I haven't unintentionally activated the abs in my Ibiza yet.
Can't say I've had any big moments I'd attribute to the ABS. Don't think I've even felt it in mine, although I do feel there's a distinct lack of bite from the pads.
Its not just me then! I have had the abs kick in several times when it seemed unnecessary. Just last week it did it again, dry road, not particularly hard braking.
ABS, EBD, whatever - all good safety features but if you as a driver rely on them or they kick in so early that you just stamp the pedal till they arrive then that's a shame IMO as you don't learn to drive properly. Then again if all new cars are like this then it makes no difference - until you step into a car with less equipment.

Its not a great problem i just think that you should be able to switch it off, especially in Snow and muddy condidtions where it will increase stopping distance drastacly.
It just needs tweaked so that it does not activate quites as quickly.
Its just a matter of fine tuning, i suppose Seat would prefer to er on the side of caution..
Still abit pants.
Yes the fuse thing would through up a fault code.
On another tack

Does the ECU log the amount of time you have the TCS switched off?

No it should only switch off TC (and the ESP obviously), the ABS & EBA are on all the time as far as i'm aware.
I've never had any problems with the ABS kicking in, in fact it is pretty hard to get it to kick in at all - eyes pop out the scull before that happens ;)

It probably has a different setting in the R.

Playing with VAG-Com I've not found anything that looks like a log of how often or duration which TCS is switched off. I tend to have mine off all the time now as it makes for a much more fun and predictable journey.

cheers, go to know for when i get my tyres renewed under the maintenance contract they cant check and shout foul play..
Have you plotted torque graphs from the VAG come yet?
How much was the Software?
I had a torque graph from it from a couple of weeks ago but as it wasn't the main reason I was doing logging I deleted it afterwards. It came out with 303lb/ft of torque.
Software is expensive. Or not if you know where to look and have a laptop that supports RS232 serial. ( which mine doesn't)
The cable can be bought from a number of places. Or you could fairly easily and cheaply make your own.
If you do it that way then software registration is £90 ( I think )
Check www.vag-com.co.uk for prices etc. Also there is a group buy thing going on at the minute. Check with Edc to find out how it works.

I have had the ABS kick in a few times; One time it had just started raining and road was well slippy and another time (was my fault) there was a speed bump, but the kind that go up, level out for a bit and then go back down, and I gave a little blip on accelerator after the up but shortly after the down a car had just stopped for no apparent reason so I had to brake quite hard just before the down and when the road fell away Violla ABS:( (thinking on it wasn't my fault it was the fool in front.)
Isn't the ABS used for a kind of Limited Slip Diff as well?
