Jabba are only offering the serial port programming on the diesel models. Best give them a ring for more info. :)

Can't recommend them enough, have a talk with Mike, even if you decide to go elsewhere (which I doubt you will) the amount of info. you'll get from him is amazing.

He's a genius and would (if he had the time) spend hours telling you the ins and outs of VAG engines.

Enjoy!:D

Absolutely NOT..... :)
Serial Programming is not Patentable.... so anyone can do it and have done and will continue to do so.... (it is'nt as new as you think)

For example.... Mini and Mini One are serially programmed .

Jabba right now are NOT doing serial programing.

But they will be in the future. At the moment it will not have a switching option either (imperative in my opinion)

So that's another off the list!!

To put serial programming in to perspective, I was programming BMW ecu's about ten years ago whilst working in a BMW dealer as part of a recall campaign.
The problem with serial programming performance software is the degree of encryption. This is why it has only been available for a short time now.
The diesel programming is actually the simplest to work out and quite a few companies now offer this. No doubt others will follow in the petrol serial programming as soon as they can encrypt the software to a safe level.

Is the original factory program encrypted then ?

Also, curious as to what sort of encyption is used as the car still needs to decrypt it ??

The Bosch ME7 series ecu's runs encryption as standard..... and runs checksums etc... Some of this is for error checking in the harsh environment etc, and another reason is a Bosch "keep out" of our ECU type encyption :p... (well so much for the latter eh ;) )

The real trick is in altering things in a way that the checksums and resident encyption etc does'nt get confused, and in this field the REVO guys excell :D They have it very well sussed.
