View Full Version : Boost pressures...
Evening men,
Just got my boost gauge fitted in this weekend thanks to info from Miridor :D. I was running at 5-6psi but tinckering with a bleed valve i had in my van i'm now running at 1bar (14.7psi) and i was just wondering if anyone had experianced simular pressures just to on the safe side..... Cheers Andy
Yes, im experiencing the same boost levels, but i am also chipped (fuelling and ignition are matched to the high boost). I'm wondering why your car isn't entering limp mode. Don't run that high boost without a chip fitted. I would not go higher than max 0.8 bar (11.7psi) on an unchipped car.

What car you running?
Bleed valve alone is riskign damage to your engine..
Fuel and ignition timing needs to be matched to this extra boost level. It is'nt likely that the boost level you're running is going to damage the engine, but the lean running will.
Be careful... Its likely to end in tears.

Thanks lads,
I have an Ibiza cupra (156) with a k/n induction kit and s/s exhaust, TSW razors 17s and now a boost gauge. Im shall remove all my experiment and speaking to my mate at Audi he going to get the lad there to chip it properly on wednesday hopefully 212bhp, just thinking bigger charge cooler may be needed???
kenty,
get it chipped too and you'll be fine with the bleed @ 14.7 PSI.
do you think then that its worth leaving my set up on when i take it to be chipped or put it back to standard other than the air filter and exhaust?
No, only if you have problems with the boost "consistency". Revert it back to stock, then get it chipped and you'll see.
Ok sim, I shall put it back to standard and let you know how i get on tomorrow with the chipping, Thanks Kenty
