View Full Version : Meshing
My question is....
If you use steel mesh will it need to be treated or will be fine as it is, i mean the last thing I want is the mesh going rusty after a few hundred miles.
Also what will look better on a volcano red cordy? Black mesh? or Silver mesh? Put it to the vote :)
Martyn,
What is the base metal of the silver mesh?
All depends on the metal, stainless steel or aluminium will not rust, mild steel with a silver anodised finish will rust if chipped.
Just voted – go for the black – red & black very sexy, well on the misses anyway, (pictures not available)
Think its mild steel mate (getting it from B&Q), whats the best thing to paint it black with? (Dont say paint)
Martyn,
The important thing to find out is if the mesh has been galvanised, if it has you will need to de-grease it prior to painting using white spirit. Make sure you do a good job of this otherwise the paint, (sorry I said it), will not take to the metal.
If it’s untreated mild steel it might be best to apply a primer first.
Then just spray paint, (sorry, I said it again), matt black

marty, why not buy the black mesh available in most car shops, its entirely plastic but that means it wont chip and leave marks, its lighter so it wont put stress on the surround and also its not as expensive as the metal stuff, thats what i used to have on my red beezer, looked well too!!
