I recently bought off the Internet from Carcept, some side skirts for my ‘96’ Ibiza. I was hoping like most add on body parts I could just bolt them on.
But although some random screws where supplied, there were no kind of flanges to drill though and no kind of fitting instructions to point me in the right direction.
When I contacted the supplier about fitting instructions they said take them to your local body shop and they’ll know. But I want to cut costs by fitting them myself.
A mate of mine worked for a Japanese tuning firm over the summer and said that when customers wanted skirts on their cars they just stuck them on with glue.
Has anyone fitted these Carcept skirts or similar ones themselves ?
How did you fit them ?

usually brackets are glued to the underneath and then the skirts screw onto the brackets, wouldnt like to see the mess a skirt would make if it was glued straight on in the event of scraping a kerb and losing it!! eurgh!!
Hi there,
I recently contacted carcept my self about the same wonderings...
They told me that the skirts should be mounted with screws at the ends and use glue all over the skirts.
The also told me that the skirts are "universal", which means they could be fitted on other cars. They are probably adaptable in length!?
I own a seat ibiza -97, and I will probably order both skirts and frontbumper from carcept in the beginning of next year :)

Indeed most skirts are bonded on! With screws at both ends.
Use something like Sticka-flex as this is A: strong as F*** and B cheap.
Should be available from most motor factors.

As said before, the skirts on my beezer are screwed at either end and bonded to the body the rest of the way round, i also believe you can get coloured bonding stuff so it could match your paintwork, mines white, looks nice !
I want some '97 facelift GTi Ibiza side skirts (standard ones).
I went to Richardson's and they quoted £65 ish for each main skirt section, but then the fittings, and jack-point covers, etc. brought it up to about £110 per side...!
Shame! If anyone has any that they have taken off, to put F2 style ones, or Carcept ones on, that are in mint condition, please let me know!
Cheers,
Matt.

wouldn't even bother fitting carcept, send em back ,they are shite.they fit well ,look good ,but after while they just fall apart.
mine ,mike kitsons dave athertons and the guy with the purple ibiza (sorry m8 name?) all have them on at the mo and everyone of us have had big problems with the rear sections falling apart.
i've emailed and written to carcept about this and sent a few photo's but after 3-4 months haven't had a reply.i really would suggest sending them back, get some plastic ones that will last,
this is just my opinion but at 130 ukp plus fitting and painting i'd say i've lost the fat end of 200 notes and my skirts look crap, i wish ihadn't bothered now.:(
Minty Man,
Are yours the GTi and Cupra style ones? How much did they set you back? Are they plastic, i.e. identical to the SEAT standard ones???
Tell me!!! :)
Thanks,
Matt.

use the part numbers from the current shape ibiza cupra , as the skirts are the same part number in black BUT the cupra ones come in primer for painting and work out @ £146+vat for the WHOLE LOT , bit if trade on that would sort the vat ??
that is if you are gonna paint em ?
advantages : genuine kit , ready to paint , and cheapISH ;)
disadvantages : no front mudflaps available and list of the numbers ;) mail me i have em here already ;)

Flapper, are the Ibiza skirts the same as the Cordy ones?
I only ask because I will hopefully be having the 1/4 panel repaired soon and I figured since the spray gun will be out I might as well get the skirts done at the same time.

Stuck on with Sikaflex 252 PU adhesive should hold them on better than screws as the surface area of bond is stronger than the shear force of screws. if you can find it Sikaflex552 is much better or Teroson MS939 from Loctite.
Make sure you degrease everything firstand it would help if the temperature is +10 degrees C.
Sorry for being a techno geek but i have dome a lot of work with adhesives.
flapper, mate...
I want the side skirts that the 1998 ibiza gti 16v had - they're standard black. I don't want to paint them, until I get an F2 front bumper...
Your help would be great!
Cheers,
Matt.

If the Cordoba is the same as the Ibiza and I got the ones to paint then you could buy mine...
Pete
Thanks for the offer... how much do you want for them?
You live bloody miles away from me, plus I want just plain black ones for the mo. It all depends on how much you want!?
Flapper - could you let me know how much the black ones are, and what the part numbers are for all the parts.
Just remembered - I've got a 10% discount at Richardson's.
Cheers all.
Matt.
