Oh...Bol*ox, as you know flapper, I oedered a TDi (red "DI") from you, and have now got the chip fitted. Well, as tje chip has squezed 154bhp out of the car maybe I should get the full works Red "TDI" now!!!!

Funnily enough, last month when I passed through Le Shuttle French customs, having fitted the red "DI" but not the chip, I was asked by the customs guy how much "ps" the car had, not wanting to lie (well, I hadn't had the chip fitted then), I replied "110", he raised an eye brow, walked to the back, took a second look, and walked away......at least it confused him!!!!

That's coz the Golf TDI 150 PD has come out...it's got a red TDI badge. According to CAR mag.

VW and SEAT use different badges (VW ones are alot bigger), it more likely that it comes from the Leon TDi 150 Cupra4....... cos I've seen one in Holland:D

The badges on the Seats are much smaller than the VW one's. I not sure why but I love the all red TDI on the back of my Toledo:D :D :D

The logo's on my Dutch cupra TDI are all red on the side (removed) Red T silver DI on the rear (was never on the car but in a bag in the glove compartment (labeled: 6K0853687ADGQF)
I also found the bagged cupra4 logo (labeled: 1M6853687G), and the SEAT letters (labeled: 6K0853687T 739)

Asked the dealer to remove the red TDI on the side, and than they put a little advertisement of themselves on tha back

If you don't want it on there I'd ask them to remove it properly. I hate dealers who stick those things on without you asking. I've got a Seat Sport sticker on the back of mine but I wanted it on there. I don't know why some dealers think they're entitled to free advertising just because you've bought a car from them.

If they wont do it, didn't someone suggest warming it with a hairdryer and then it should just lift off?

Thanks for the info.

I've ordered one. The part number you gave is wrong.
It is 1M0-853-687-GQF
and not 1M0-853-687-CQF

It is a G, not a C.

@langers

I am sorry for the typo. I just moved and have not yet proper lighting above my PC. But i see you managed to order it.

Thanks again Jaco,
Your car must be a real Q car. A debadged 150bhp PD with 4wd!! Must go like .... off a stick!! What is the top speed? Is the 4wd any good? Does the extra weight have much affect on driving, handling and fuel economy? Is diesel good value in Holland? Best I can find here is 72.9 pence a litre :(
If the 150pd 4wd model was available here I'd of got it.
I've got a 110bhp TDi non-pd, with fwd. It will be upsoluted on Tuesday, so maybe that will make it near the power of your car. A chipped 150pd would be awesome. Has anybody done it yet?

Langers,

My UPsoluted TDi 110 made 154bhp on the rollers, I've also got a K&N airfilter fitted.
The 150 PD makes 182, although I bet you could better that:D

I have travelled to Holland 3 times in past couple of months, Holland, France etc It's all about the 48-50p / litre mark...

I'm thinking of chipping my 150 Toledo but want to wait til the warranty is at least 6 months over.
Jaco - do you experience alot of wheel slip with your 4WD? My Toledo TDI 150 really gives the TCS/ESP a workout when I nail it. It is only 2WD but I think its biggest problem lies in the stock 205/55 rubber. I think its not enough for the 320Nm of torque! Waiting on a set of Cupra 17x7 wheels? Still wondering if I should have bought the Cupra 4?????

prc,

Imagin the wheel spin I get on my chipped TDI, I don't have TCS:(

jaco
14-12-2001, 11:05
I do not have wheelspin, since the 4wheel drive kicks in when the front wheels loose traction. Currently i drive on winter tires that are 205/55R17 i believe.
The car is getting a bit better now, it was adjusted by the dealer but i do not feel there is 180HP with 380Nm as promised. This saturday i am going over to a fellow Cupra TDI driver to compare the power development. (he seems to have 195 HP with near 400NM)
The power between 2000 and 3000 RPM seems OK. Above that it is a little flat. But the car has done only 3000 KM. the dealer claims it will get better and better till 8000 KM. Have some doubts about that though. All the tuners i checked this with tell me i should immediatly feel tuning from 150 to 180 HP. It should be there at 0, 1000, 10000 or whatever number of kilometers.

Jaco

Went to a tuner today, and tried other software (180 HP / 380 nm)
test: 100 - 180 in 6. gear
own software: 31.3 / 32.0/34.0 seconds (3 runs)
wetteraurer: 21.3 / 21.3 seconds (2 runs)

test: 100 - 150 in 6. gear
own software: 17.4 seconds (1 run)
wetteraurer: 12.6 seconds (1 run)

This makes a difference of almost 30%.

Also visited a fellow TDI driver. He should have 193 HP 400 Nm. Drives with SKN tuning (german) That car feels much faster than mine. More difference than the wetteraurer software i drove with.

If the car has only done 3000km then it will take time to loosen up, this would probably also show a reduction in power untill it fully looosens up. My Leon TDi took 15,000 miles (25,000km) to give its best.

prc

Jaco,
I would definitely think that you would notice an increase from 150 to 180hp.
As far as what the dealer says It's sort of true. As with the 110 GT TDI Ibiza I had before the Toledo, the engine started loosening up til about 12000-15000KM. It seemed that everyday I drove the car would just start pulling a bit more. This until about 15000.
I always wanted to chip my beeza, but never got around to it:
36 months = 217000KM:eek:
Not sure about the Toledo, I guess I still a bit worried about the possible side effects of chipping (engine longevity especially!). I can afford to trade in on a 3-4 year basis, don't think I can afford to do it <3yrs.

Got some 100 - 180 figures from Germany. 17 till 18 seconds in a standard TDI (has a lot of power for a standard one)

So i fear more and more something is wrong. I ave to agree that after some more KM's the car will drive better. I already noticed this from 3000 till 4000 km. But i do not think that my chipped 180 HP TDI takes 31 seconds, and a run in TDI 150 does it in 18
seconds. That is too much of a difference don't you think ?

In a 150 takes 18 seconds in standard format, I would think that your 180 should take more or less the same amount of time (this of course considering that you have a new engine with very few KM). If it takes 30 or more seconds then I think something is definitely wrong. Maybe the turbo boost parameter or the wastegate opening with to little boost.

Andy

A hairdryer or heat gun works great (careful with the heat gun!).
An old credit card works wonders to pry off the badge (it cuts the adhesive without damaging the paint)

I found this out *after* debadging my Ibiza :-(

jaco

I was mislead in that german thread. The 18 seconds was a V6..
Mext week i will get a default chip, and i will re-try the test to see what de 'standard' cupra tdi does.

No further entrys were placed, as it is quite bad weather, and it would be foolisch to try this at the moment (minus 20 degrees, and a lot of snow)
