View Full Version : Cheap Insurance for Young Drivers???
Right, I've decided i'm finally gonna come off my parents insurance policy and get my own so I can build up a no claims bonus so i don't get stung by insurance when i can afford a cupra!!!
At the moment i'm paying just over £700. But when I go and search for insurance just with me on the policy in my name etc the cheapest I can get is £1380 third party.
I have had one crash which insurers know about, well more of a write off, lol, over a year ago... so was just wondering if anyone knows any good insurance companies that do a good deal for people in my situation??
Oh, and i'm 19 and only trying to insure my 1.4 ibiza!!!!!!!

I would have a call to HIC:
https://www.hertsinsurance.com/
They specialise in VAG vehicles. Speak to Martin Bowles, great guy and does some amazing deals.
Tell him that Alex Spellman send you and he will sort you out.
Oh by the way, having the car modified gets the price down even more.

ha, gave gocompare.co.uk a go, and at first i had a quote of about £900... but then I added the extras i've got, only exhaust and alloys.... and cheapest then was well over £2000!!!!!!!! both of those quotes were only 3rd party too! lol, it's crap being 19, insurance companies just rape you!!!!!!!
tbh i found for my details gocompare shite. Double what greenlight/Tesco can offer.

im gunna try that green light now damm it you got me thinking lol
try Norwich Union, found them to be the cheapest for me for two years running. I renewed mine 3days ago, it was £880 in my name for me and my twin bro, we're both 19 and i have two years no claims. And thats on a group 7 mk4 1,9tdi Ibiza, i was well please with that price. Direct Line wanted £1500!!!!
Just had a quote from Endsleigh Insurance for £842 cheapest I can find for my situation of 19, no no-claims bonus and one insurance claim. Does that sound alright??? Although that's with not saying about mods  can't find anything less than about £1500 when I declare mods. And.... I can't go on my Dad's policy again, insurers are getting wise to this now and wont allow me to!!!!!!! Plus I want to start building my own no-claims.

Did u get a quote including one of your parents as a named driver? That can sometimes bring the price down a bit.

Doesnt seem to crazy to me. I pay 1400 at 19 with 1 yrs ncb for my 1.4 with no mods.
i'll tell you what is crazy
£3200 for my cousin for a 1.0l 08plate corsa
fair enough he only passed but still i thought that was crazy
even worse is 1 company quoted £7000 that nearly the cost of the car
try adrian flux, noel dazely or performance direct...great bunch of companys
Admiral are pretty killer. for me on my own policy they wanted 2145, this is only a 1.6 leon by the way. pretty outrageous, but adding my mum and dad as named drivers brought it down to 1215. almost a grand less!! incredible.

1st car that i drove was a mk3 golf tdi. went on as second driver wid my sister i was only 18 then and was quoted 800. so quite good.
i been driving 3 years now. and finally brought my 1st car. seat leon cupra 2000 model. i did insurance quote on money supermarket. and they are so rubbish. they are not good and dont expect people to rely on them. they say they provide insurance quotes from the top providers and directline wasnt even ther.
direct line has provided me with good quotes and even with 0% apr on monthy repayments. i got quoted 1200 im 21 clean licence no no claims. which is good. on money superarket the cheapest quote i gt was like 1540.
anyways all the best.
well after weeks of getting quote after qutoe after quote and being on hold on telephones for ages and getting millions of junk emails from insurance companies... I finally have a good 'cheap' quote! just over £1000 for me as the policy holder and my dad as the named driver, and i've got no no claims, AND i've listed all of my mods! In fact the more mods I told them about the cheaper it got which was a bit strange!!! Anyway, I got the quote from Adrian Flux, really good company! Highly recommended!!!
